Longest Streak?

For all you regular MTTers, what is the longest streak that you have gone without getting ITM? Since a 3rd place finish two weeks ago, I haven't gotten ITM in the last 15 or so tournies I've played. I've gotten to the bubble several times but have gambled and come up short each time. I've started playing MTTs seriously since a couple of months ago, and while I have several final tables finishes, I'm beginning to doubt my MTT ability when I'm busting out of every tourney and I see certain players (on Stars) finishing ahead of me every tourney. Without any cash game play, my bankroll is suffering and I'm not sure what to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just broke a similar streak. One MTT ITM finish in the past 3 weeks. ITS INSANE!!! Finally got my second in that time period tonight....

As to your other question. Sometimes we must step down in levels when our BR is threatened. I've had to do that both with my SNG game and my limit game in the past. It is ok to do this. Rebuild at a level you have more success at (and can survive variance at)

Just went ten days and about 20 tourneys without a single cash and finally won a small field Paradise tourney on Tuesday. That of course helped both confidence and bankroll but still has me a bit shaken. I have cashed once since then but got booted after 1st break twice tonite on Paradise and Stars.

I mostly play $10 rebuys and $50 or less freezeouts, so I have little experience with the variance on bigger buy-in tourneys, except for the few I've won a seat into.

Anyway, it happens. Maybe re-read Tournament Poker for Advanced Players, take a break or play some cash games to rebuild. I just ordered Harrington on Hold 'Em and hope to get some new insight from "Action" Dan.

Good luck and good learning.

I am in the middle of a horrible streak right now. I've made it into the money some, but nothing note worthy.

When I was playing MTTs every day, I usually didn't go more than two or three weeks without a decent win, but I was playing in some pretty damn soft tournies.

And just to vent, it sucks making it to the second table of those WSOP double shootouts and not winning. After like 30+ minutes HU on my first table (we were the first table to get to HU and he last to finish by a lot, so it may have been more than a 30 min HU match), I went out in sixth with a wimper. So a 2.5 hours and a whole whole lot of concentration for a net of exactly zero. Bleh!

ITM (barely) once out my last 12 or so. The previous 12 or so I was ITM more than 50%. Nothing to worry about.

Well after 9 $1k+ and 16 Final table finishes the first 11 weeks of 2005, I haven't had a finish that paid more than $100 in 3 weeks with only 1 Final table. I really need to find a job and fast.
