Bellagio On Fire 12-15 to 12-17

WOW; was the Bellagio great this weekend. The room was packed. Thursday had the final 2 tables of the Five Diamond shoe horned in a corner. I thought this was tacky but the rail was packed. Every night had 4-5 15-30 and 3-4 30-60 limit tables going after 9 PM. This is the time to hit the room when the tournament gets down to 40-50 from 100 ish. Before that, very long wait lists for the 15 and the 30 game.
The 15-30 game was very soft, so soft I lost 100 BB's. LOL. It plays like a 30-15-30-30 or a 45-15-30-30 with 4-6 people to the flop. What I mean is all hands are raised by someone, every one will call 2 or 3 bets cold or complete their bets for 1 or 2 more bets. Someone will bet on the flop, everyone will call. The turn bet gets most people out but someone will call you down every time. Showdown Poker, they will call to the river, just to show their draw or 3rd pair. Usually A-rag against 10-8o. What a great game.
There were 1-3 decent players on my tables, 1-3 Local Pros who would cold call along with the rest of them but were good at sensing weakness and check-raising a bad flop. Or at least against me, maybe I have a tell. Against anyone else they would call down with their 3rd pair and the tourists runner-runner would get there. These guys all know each other and are terrible. How they make a living is beyond me but I do recognize some of them from last year. 1-2 tight old men who will just call with TPTK and complain when it gets run down. Then there were the ladies. If their were 2 women it was a good game and 3 it was fantastic. Cold call any number of bets, chase draws all the way, call down with 3rd pair, I love the ladies!!!
The boys were in town and causing Trouble!!! A long argument at 4 AM Fri. night or Sat. morning about the Must Move list for 10-20 NL so they could bet the colors. Then Sat. night they were playing 40-80 mixed games with Men the Master.
The Mirgae sucked. I stayed there and it is fine for that. [Pool is closed for remdeling]. The games sucked except maybe the 40-80. 20-40 looked like the same 10 locals every day. 10-20 was awful. IMHO, I did not play a hand there. Good thing I got cheaper rates off the web and not the Poker rate. I went to Wynn, Friday afternoon looked Ok, 3 games at 4 PM and a waiting list so went back to Bellagio. I did only play at night so the afternoons might be a little slower but not much.

The 15-30 locals can be some of the softest calling stations on the planet. 2-3 of these "local pros" (more like wanabe's) will limp utg with 108s, 54s, Q9o, K10 etc and then call the 3 or 4 bet when it gets back to them. At times this game can be a real bitch to beat but it's certainly worth a play imo. Forget, startegic raises here. You aint getting anyone to fold after the flop with these type raises....raise for value! Bet for value! Build the pots. This is a show the best hand game so pound the hell out of it when those few hands come to you.

Actually, the pool was closed because it is winter. High of 53 while you were here.

Very nice trip report, it made me feel like I was there. And I love those kind of games. I hope it's like that on my next trip.

My room had a note that said it was closed for "preventative maintenance". Do they do this every winter? (could be)

If it really was a Jimmy Buffet t-shirt, I'm pretty sure it wasn't official licensed merchandise.

Either that or they've opened a smorgasbord at the Casino Royale (it was between "Jimmy Buffet" and "Acres O' Bacteria").
