Texas players under investigation

Link

Texas/USC game is offline at all the sportsbooks because Cedric Griffin and Romance Taylor (and maybe one more) are under investigation for robbery and assault. Yeah, yeah, innocent until proven guilty and all that, but let's say for discussion purposes that these two don't play in the Rose Bowl. How does it affect the game?

Ced Griffin and Ramonce apparently weren't part of the situation that involved a gun, so yeah, that's good. If they don't play, which I doubt, it wouldn't be devastating. Texas is plenty deep at those positions.

i can clearly see that you are rational about the situation but the thing that bothers me about this situation is how unfortunate it could be if they don't play and USC wins. you say it doesn't have an affect but i know everybody around me is going to bitch and moan about how "if they had so and so it would have been a different story." i know that if i am the other team, i want their best on that field so they have no excuses.

This story broke around 5pm Friday and spread through austin like a wild fire.

The majority of the Austin population believes first this is a bogus claim. The reported incidents were on Sept 4 and Dec 10th. Very few detail have been released. The reports say that the players were out on 6th street (which is the downtown area of Austin where about 30+ bars/clubs are) and happened around 3am. One Austin news site said a player asked for $5. 5 bucks!?!?!? A fight insued and there was a big riot of people. The football players here are very recognizable.

I think this claim at bogus, because even at 3am, there are still a lot of people walking the streets so many people must have seen it. There probably was a fight of some kind, but the robbery charge seems a little bit loose.

Austin PD has come under fire recently for certain cases that have happened over the past year. One latino man was gunned down, after the officer claimed he was attacked by him and then the other officer was forced to shoot him. Thats been a big story in the news. Why in the world APD relases this info now is a mystery. Very silly of them to announce it to the press, and very little info to give out.

Two players in question, Cedric Griffin our star senior Cornerback, and one of our new RB Ramonce Taylor (sophmore). As of now, no official charges have been filed.

Of course ESPN is going to pounce on this story and hype it all they can. Already the 2nd headline this friday on their webpage. It just seems way to odd that this happened. Plus who was the people that filed the charges? A citizen or did the police do it.

All in all, I think this will turn out to be something taken way out of context. Only time will tell.

I really wouldn't blame them if they had guns. I have wanted a gun every time I have been to 6th Street in Austin.

You don't at all sound like a person who allows his personal preferences to potentially cloud his judgment about fact v. fiction.
