i am planning on being there from weds. thru sunday. i did plan on playing all the tournys but they had a bunch of restrictions on who could enter for you and such so i didnt get my entry in as they required you to enter personally. so i guess i will wait to see what other rules they have before i commit any money to them.

i just paid the tournament fee of 70bucks in advance and registered over the phone with a credit card and driver's license. I need to show up two hours in advance to pay the full fee, though. (here's the number i registered at if you need it: 604 247 8983)

Hope i'll see you at the limit event or perhaps a side game.

That's Awesome MBE! How many poeple qualified? i heard there are around 50 spots left for the NL event for buying straight in. I wonder if poeple will be paying more or brokering deals to get in that one. You certainly have a hot commodity with that ticket. I will be the teenie PL touney, I got in payin the $75 Super Sat.

Well, apparently my Full Tilt gear was suppose to stand me out, but now I just heard that BCLC has a stipulation where no one is allowed to wear logos.

I guess I will just wear my bunny suit then.

Is this the event being held at the riverrock casino? Does anyone know if there's a relatively easy way to get there (without access to a car) from downtown vancouver? Thanks!

Re: Going to Vancouver for the BC poker championships, anyone else?

98B express bus from downtown Vancouver, get off at "Sea Island Way" and it's a short walk. Here is a map showing both the southbound 98B stop (where you get off when you're coming from downtown Van), and the northbound stop (where you get on when you're going back), in relation to the casino:

The supersat yesterday awarded 10 tickets. People are saying the NL event will sell out; I don't know. I've heard that the $2500 vouchers (which you get for winning a satellite) are selling for around $2200-$2300. I suppose it's possible that if the tournament sells out, the vouchers could be sold at a premium. I doubt it though. I would let mine go for $3000.

Where did you hear that? I don't see anything on that topic in the General Rules [pdf]. I suspect it just applies to the televised final table. Otherwise it's impractical for them to enforce -- especially since they haven't publicized this stipulation.

Re: Going to Vancouver for the BC poker championships, anyone else?

Yeah several have been sold for $2300, i am sure you could get pretty close to $3K once it sells out. You should come by the PL tourney tomm and see what the action is like in terms of selling out. I'm sure it will sell out tomm as $1K is good value for a big tounament.

Yes, it will most likely be a final table stipulation if it airs on tv.

This is one of the things that really tick me off. The fact we have to fork out our own money to play, yet we are not allowed to wear whatever logo we choose.

Re: Going to Vancouver for the BC poker championships, anyone else?

Hi guys,

I'm strongly considering making a last minute trip up to vancover after seeing this thread.

I'd like to play both the limit event and the main event.

Do you think it would be a problem if I arrived tommorow night and tried to buy in tommorow night (thur) or friday morning?

Any recommendations on a good place to stay?

Thanks,
Lee

call 604 247 8983 tomorrow and register over the phone to ensure a spot. otherwise i would arrive two hours before the events you plan on playing to try and buyin.

i'm not from vancouver and can't recommend a place to stay, but i hope you find something. maybe the casino has a hotel. i would try ask them, at the number i gave, about accomodation when you call to register.

The casino does have a hotel, but from what I heard all the rooms are booked for the weekend.

Hi Enon,

Yup, there are seats available for the limit & no limit events. Call (604) 247-8983 for more info & ask for Darryl, the TD, Dan or Dave. Suggest you stay at the Delta on Cessna Dr. in Richmond which is a 15 minute walk from the RiverRock. Rooms are available at C$129 per night with a king-size bed for friday & saturday night. Call them at (604) 278-1241. Good luck!

I busted out of the pot-limit event pretty early. I am skipping today's LHE event and playing the NL tomorrow.

Anybody know the results of yesterday's event? I looked around and could not find them posted on the Internet.

I do not know who won either. I busted out 90th.

It was nice to meet you MBE. Perhaps Mr. Gates and company will develop an OS that will seize any 3rd party applications from accessing other applications without full and proper permission from the end user.

Good luck to you and all other local Vancouverites in the $2500 Main Event.

Hi Lawrence.

Finally got to meet another 2+2er in Ray Zee (aka Ray Zed in Canada). Nice meeting & chatting with you, Ray. I also would like to meet others. Are you playing in the big NL tourney today, Lawrence? I tried only one satellite with no success so I'm not playing. If any other 2+2er is playing, let me know so we can meet up & perhaps discuss the game. I'm an Asian late 50s usually wearing a dark brown coat. The cash games have been great!(ask Mr. Zee).

My buddy Justin finished 9th in the PL for $10,000. Needless to say he now has a big ass TV in his living room.

it was great meeting a bunch of twoers at vancouver. i didnt play in any of the tournys but played alot of cash games, mostly 10- 25 pot limit omaha. pots were big and players nice to be with.
i was surprised by the good play of alot of the faces i didnt know. poker is getting tougher in general but the stakes hopefully will rise to the occasion.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum - but was surfing to find out who won the NL at the BC Championships. I played the PL and busted out somewhere in the middle of the pack off table 3. Totally my fault too lol. Had a great time though as this was my first live tournament.

Ray Z - I think I may have met you there as I do remember meeting someone from Montana. Not sure if I met you before or after my car was stolen Monday night (sigh) but I guess you would know who I am if it was after.
