Standard call, unlikely he had some pair + combo draw hand (since you have the Qc), if he hit a set on you so be it... a lot of times he will have air trying to take the pot away from AK.

Why check the turn, and lose control of the pot?

i would cock-punch myself before i folded this.

the question is whether to call or push.

i checked the turn because i thought villain was drawing to 2-3 outs and he'd pay off a small river bet with a hand like 77/99 but would fold the turn. also there's some chance he has air like AJ and will bluff the river.

Why did you decide to check the turn? Villain could be trapping but very well might play a lot of weaker hands the same way.

This made me scratch my head.

Let me see if I can figure out why you would check on the turn here...1) you think you have the best hand. 2) you don't think he will call a bet on the turn with his possible holdings. 3) you want to induce a value bet/bluff on the river from 99, TT, JJ, QJ, QK or similar holdings. 4) with most of his holdings he has 2 outs with a lower pair and only a K on the river would kill your TPTK.

So it looks like you checked the turn to get a bet on the river by making your hand look weaker. The only problem with the plan was his huge river bet and the flush hitting the board. It looks like you got what you wanted......call the bet. I certainly would not raise and committ more chips without a better read of what his bet means.

I still think a bet of 200-325 on the turn would make this much clearer.

are we really concerned about the flush draw? what do you think he called the flop with?

why is calling the river better than raising? 22/55 are possible, but not that likely, especially because many people fold those in EP. AA/KK are possible trap hands. what else are you afraid of? on the other hand, KQ/99/etc will often feel committed and put in the rest.

can you elaborate?

This type of bet screams flush / set / i'm trying to steal the pot from you.

What worse hand are you looking to call the push here? KQ? JJ?

those, 99, QT, etc. the push is only a min-raise, so i thought that villain would probably not be able to get away from those kinds of hands.

i think there is virtually no chance of a flush. 22/55 are possible, but the other hands mentioned are soooo much more likely (because of number of hand combinations).
