Foxwoods 5/5 NL

sorry to post this here, but what time does this game get started on weekends?

couldn't you just call the casino and ask the poker room? Also this is probably better in B&M Cardrooms.

it never really stops running once it gets fired up at around 4pm friday.

best time to hit it: show up as fresh as possible early morning sunday. you're guarenteed to find one of the following...

1. an extremely hungover businessman who keeps repeating "i've got a flight at 2, what's the point of going to sleep right?"

2. a decent number of players stuck from the weekend's malicious grasp. this is one of the best attributes of the woods....unlike atlantic city/vegas etc., foxwoods is in the middle of asscrack connecticut. consequently, many can only find time to take the occassional/isolated trip. possibly moreso than at other live games, players feel they will not have another chance to recoup losses for a while. they often use sundays as a day to exercise the demon gamblor, and take increased risks. you'll often find a 5/10NL running sunday afternoon/night because of a large "list of interest."

3. jim the attorney stuck a few grand. this is worth his accountant's weight in gold.

EDIT: the 300-500 buy-in game has snatched up a lot of the live ones though...it's really thinned the 5/5 field.

Re: Foxwoods 5/5 NL

i honestly haven't made the trip in a few weeks, and it definitely varies week to week. that said, you will rarely find more than one 5/5 open until saturday afternoon. the 500 max buyin game has become so popular as players from 1/2 NL crack their piggybanks and give it a go, that a fair amount of 5/5ers have chosen to sit solely in that game.

anyhoo, it's just a gamble as to whether or not there will be a wait saturday morning. sometimes there is a lively and full table; sometimes the game breaks at 7am until around noon bc people like to head to their rooms to nap before the afternoon. in any case, you will rarely see more than one 5/5 running early saturday morn...

my advice: play the 500 max. it's loose, it has a roving cast of delightful characters that resemble your favorite animals (donkey, fish, whatever), and you won't have any trouble finding a full table.

hope this helps.
