Ya I was thinking I shoulda CRed the flop. I also kinda like letting the maniacs bluff all the way to the river those times they can't beat a pair.

I think if I'm going to defend with a small pair, 3bet pflop.
If he just calls your 3bet lead any flop. Getting 6:1 or so there he doesn't have to fold it that often for it to be +EV.
Getting capped sucks. You can chk-call it down from there, if only to see if he caps with crap or not. chk/folding the flop, while weak, might let you extract if/when you have a better situation later on (or at least have a better read)..
I still think the 3bet, lead flop works enough to make up for the times you get capped, and at least keeps him from trying to run you over even if you fold the flop.
