AA gets throttled

another bad hand here. i just smooth-called here since i wanted to milk him but i'm starting to discover this is bad in no-limit poker (i have a limit background). would most of you raise preflop even heads-up? on the other hand, even if i had raised pre, i just don't think there's any way in hell i can get away from this hand! i want to get something out of this $50 lesson. oh, and no read on the opponent.

Stop trying to milk people OOP. It's a great way to lose a lot of money without any information.

Calling with aces is bad PF poker imo. I never do it, and there is probably little chance I ever will. It is the only time no matter what you know you are ahead. Anyway, I lead the flop, lead turn, and then probably fold to his push. As played, I think after the min raise im done here. UTG has 77 im thinking.

Re: AA gets throttled

Re-raising is a better play OOP. Having said that, he is not likely to fold, so he is going to hit his set anyway. If you raise, the fact that all his money goes into the pot somewhere in the hand MIGHT give you a clue what you are facing. By not re-raising, you have no idea of the strength of his hand until it is too late.

Or...I only sometimes do it and usually heads up and usually in position against an aggressive-ultratight opponent.

See now your post is better.

Even then I dont like not raising with aces. I dont get them often enough to get cute with them.

As usual PoBOy is spot on. 3bet preflop, bet flop, lose to whatever you lost with. Results same, but play MUCH better.
