Table stakes.

Why does it exisit in a Limit game. Especially a game with a cap.
Friend and I had a discussion about it was wondering who was right.

So that players with a very small stack (say, 5 BB) can't decide to stop betting and play for a sidepot in the middle of a hand but still have the option of buying more chips in the middle of a hand to raise with if they have the nuts.
