Just got my 2001FP : Now for the Questions . . .

Connected 2001FP to Radeon 9200 64mb card powered by Sony 420 via DVI. My 17" analog monitor is still in the other connector of the card. Could the old monitor being connected be the reason why my max resolution option is 1280 x 1024 ? Will I be unable to get higher resolution for 4 tabling with the old monitor connected?

Try making the DVI one the primary monitor. You should be able to select different resolutions for each monitor using either windows or any software that ATI gave with the card.

You should be able to run 1600x1200 on the Dell while keeping the old CRT at 1280x1024. Have you tried the newest ATI driver for your card?

I have completely disconnected the 19" and now have only the 2001FP hooked up via DVI to the Radeon 9200. I have updated Radeon driver and the 2001FP driver. I still can not get 1600 x 1200 as an option. It is set at 60hz. When I choose the List All Modes it shows everything up to 1280 x 1024 True Color (32 Bit) 60 hz. Under monitor tab it recognizes the Dell 2001FP (Digital) - Properties Tab in Monitor shows Dell 2001FP Driver Date 04/08/2003 (this is the driver on the supplied disk). I have searched Dells webite to no avail, ATI's website, Googled the problem, search 2+2 Computer Techinical help for 1 year . . . .
What in the hell is going on here?

No way is that video card installed properly. Uninstall all the drivers and software associated with it, so that when you reboot it only does basic low-res video. Then install the drivers provided with it from scratch - I say the ones provided with it as these are sure to be correct, whereas any downloaded ones could potentially be wrong. You don't need the very latest video drivers for the card to get above 1280 resolution - and you don't need any monitor drivers at all.

The video card came as standard equipment in the Sony 420. The driver was the one that came with the system and would be the same one on the system disk I assume. I will try your advice however.

Hell ya! I did what you said Troll. Uninstalled, things got huge and chunky. Found that my Sony system restore disk did not have the ATI drivers. Went to opendrivers.com and found most recent ATI driver. Installed and works like a champ! Thanks so much!
