short stack, i call you out of spite

$5/$10 NL.

Couple limpers, you pop it to $50 on the button with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Only caller is the big blind, who has $200 to his name. No reads, except if he were any good he would've moved in preflop, wouldn't he?

Flop:

J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

BB moves allin for $150 into the $120 pot.

edit: size of his stack changed.

Maybe it's a "leak" but I love to gamble for <20BB when it's all-in and I know I'm drawing live. Let 'er ride.

I'd call. Don't shortstacks like to let you bet for them when they actually have a hand? He probably had something crazy like AQ, or Q6, some kind of draw. Maybe even 22. Who knows. And if he has you beat you'll spike him. :-)

But seriously, calling is fine, because if he does double through and stay at the table you'll be able to recoup the money when he tries to play at you again. And he will, unless another player busts him out before you can get to him. But I think you're probably good enough of the time to make this a decent call (plus it sends a message to the table when you show down your AK and win that you are just straight up the man.)

I had a quasi-similar hand like this today against a shortstack.

5/10, I raised to 35 on the button with AQo, shortie with 300 in front calls.
Flop KK2, shortie pots it, I call. Turn 10, shortie pushes, I call, he shows QJ and AQ high holds. It just seems so out of the ordinary for them to push. Maybe a thinking player would shove because of this, but I mean - what kind of thinking player is sitting with a shortstack anyway?

In this case, I call. But I give too much action to short stacks(a leak I need to fix).

I do it too. I figure that if he doubles up I can always outplay him later for a real stack.
