AC Article

This article is OK if you've never been to AC, but there are some errors and and bizarre comments. The Borgata only has 35 tables not 85, and despite what Jack wrote they have the best customer service in AC hands down. His comment about the bathrooms at the Taj is bizarre given the the rest rooms are only 20 yards away from one end and 25 from the other. Also Caesars has the worst dealers/floor in AC, many dealers don't know basic rules and it is common to see pots pushed to the wrong player becuz the dealer mis-read the hand. Most of their floor people have no experience as poker dealers or floor people prior to being hired here, so asking them for rulings can be very dicey. However the players at Caesars are so unimaginably bad it is worth your while to play 1/2 NL or 2/5 NL (when they have it). Often the players here have wandered in off the main casino floor and have never played poker before.

Re: AC Article

This AC article is a total embarrassment. Mason, Ed, or whoever should have run it by some regular AC posters (e.g., Jeffage,) or even in irregular poster such as myself. The writer obviously just got info from the PR folks. The article does not capture what games are actually spread, as opposed to "available." The writer couldn't even take the time to find out what the time charges were on various games. The whole article is riddled with misinformation. For example, there is no tableside food service at the Taj. The writer noted that stud games don't have blind bets. Good to know! This is the kind of garbage I'd expect from Casino Player magazine, not 2+2. The advice is worth exactly what it cost the reader. 2+2, OTOH, got ripped off.

I don't know how bad Caesars is, but it's a newer card room and at least they have an excuse. I played at Bally's a couple of months ago and their staff was by far the worse I've ever seen. I was playing 2/5 no-limit and the dealers were terrible. Moreover, they were slower than I've ever seen, even with a shuffling machine!

But this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. The dealer accidently tabled the turn card before the betting action was finished on the flop. The dealer didn't know how to deal with it. I tried to explain the usual procedure but he kept trying to put turn card back on top of the deck like nothing happened. Finally I called the floor over to explain it to him but the floor had no idea what to do. Finally she told him something that didn't make sense and I told them they were wrong. Now here is the really ridiculous part. I then proceeded to tell the dealer what to do, step by step, almost forcing him to do so, while the floor stood there, watched for a few seconds and just walked away. That's right, a player overrulled the floor! Try doing that at the Borgata or the Taj.

Needless to say Bally's gets my vote for the worst poker room in AC, especially with the smoking.

There is tableside service at the Taj, it is provided by the Poker Snack Bar upstairs, just dial x7133 to place your order and give them your table #

Although it is not a law, the house take, or "rake," in cash games in AC is the same at every casino I checked.

If you come to AC from New York or Northern New Jersey, there's a trap leaving town that you need to be aware of. Everyone I know who goes to AC with any frequency has fallen into it. Driving out of town on the Atlantic City Expressway, you'll be either tired, annoyed at losing, or ecstatic from winning. You will miss the exit for the Garden State Parkway north. Believe me.

Re: AC Article

The article implies that 10/20 and above hold'em are spread in many rooms. The only rooms that regularly spread 10/20 and above hold'em are Taj and Borgata. Tropicana spreads it when there is interest. The other rooms I have never seen it spread. And I agree that the Borgata has the best staff in town, no question.

TERRIBLE Article. Ballys 200/400 Limit LOL, good luck getting a friggin 5/10 going.

Death Valley pointed out some of the more blatent errors. I really think this article needs a retraction/correction by 2+2.
