First hand of $30 Party MTT

A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the button. UTG and MP1 limps. Call here?

I raise to 45. SB, BB, UTG, and MP call. 225 in the pot.

Flop comes Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

Check to me, and I bet 175.

SB calls, rest fold.

Turn comes 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

SB checks, and I bet 255 into the 575 pot. SB calls.

River comes 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB bets 125. I call.

What's the 'right' way to play this hand?

On the 'bright' side, I triple up an orbit later with my 55 against 99 when I turn a full house. Above 1,000. David Ross is right. Poker sucks.

C'mon guys. 30 reads and no post? The least I deserve is a post about how much I suck.

Your bet before the flop was fine. Your bet after the flop was fine. Your bet on 4th street was a mistake. Given that you did not win after the flop you have to put your opponent on either the nut flush draw, a ready made flush or trips.

Betting 255 into the 575 pot showed your opponent that you were not sure of your hand. I would have just checked and taken off a card and see what your opponent does on 5th street. If it was not a tournament I would have bet the amount of the pot and see what happends.

A solid bet you fold
They check you check.
