99 in EP

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG folds, Hero raises, UTG+2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: (8 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, MP1 raises, SB calls, BB folds, Hero 3-bets, MP1 caps, SB folds, Hero calls.

Turn: (9 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets, Hero calls.

River: (11 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets, Hero raises, MP1 3-bets, Hero caps, MP1 calls.

Final Pot: 19 BB
Main Pot: 19 BB, between Hero and MP1. > Pot won by MP1 (19 BB).

Results in white below:
Hero has 9d 9h (four of a kind, nines).
MP1 has Ac Jc (straight flush, queen high).
Outcome: MP1 wins 19 BB.

Regardless of the results, with the board this draw heavy on the flop should i have check raised instead of betting out on the flop? On the turn only a straight flush is beating me and i decided to call instead of check raise or bet out(i don't want to lose him if he has the straight or is drawing to it). I was thinking i could make up any bets on the river that i'm losing on the turn, and quad nines is too good to risk having him fold.

Obviously I usually like the river here, now the lone Ac is going to go to war with me. In this case it didn't work out, but i can't think of any reason to not go 4 bets here. I'll admit this is a bit of a bad beat post, but just want to see if anyone thinks i could have gotten more bets in for those times i'm winning this, which is a lot more often than i'm losing it (on the turn and river anyway).

MP1 capped the flop and bet out the turn. He's not going anywhere. Cap the turn.

That call on the turn really sucked. Cap it baby.

Check-raise the turn. He clearly likes his hand and isn't going anywhere.

Did you throw up and break anything after that hand?

I didn't. He might have.

Re: 99 in EP

I'm usually pretty calm, even if I get beat by a 3 outer on the river, since i understand the person chasing is paying me off overall, but yah, i did not react well at all to that. Still, thinking about it now i'm madder that i left three bets on the table on the turn. But man, i did not in my wildest dreams think i was losing that hand. This is actually the first hand i've played that would and lost that would qualify for a typical bad beat jackpot, except that only one of his cards played. I've never lost with quads before, so i guess i lost that cherry .

If you were playing on the party bad beat tables you would have made about $10,000 for that one, that would be cool.

Both cards don't have to play for the straight flush?
