Re: PLO8 hand

Generally you should be very wary of bottom set in PLO8. It's easy to have a set go down to a drawn straight or flush, and add on top of that the possibility that you could be up against a bigger set (and therefore potentially drawing to one out for high), and you can probably convince yourself that bottom set is not a very appealing hand to flop.

As a rule of thumb, when getting started in PLO8, you should be putting bottom set into the muck pretty often, especially in a multiway pot.

That being said, this particular board isn't so scary-looking to bottom set. But if you're going to take a stand with it, I'd prefer a max check-raise since you're in EP. If it checks around, so be it--bottom set isn't that good anyway.

Ok thank you. I really appreciate the help. Hard to find good learning materials for PLO8.

It seems as if the sheer number of possible redraws make your edges smaller than you think they would be coming from Hold Em. I'm seeing tons of hands where I'm a favorite on the turn lose on the river. Trying to keep the faith that I'm still making the right plays.
