CASH LHE W/ AN ANTE?

ok.
this is a bit inspired by the guy who posted about the 60 game w/ the mandatory straddle (which clearly rules)...

has anyone ever played LHE for cash w/ an ante(in addition to blinds)... im talking about a 3chip/6chip or 4chip/8chip w/ a 1chip ante?
i was talking to a friend about this recently, and saying how i really believed this stucture would catch on, much like the addition of a second (or "big") blind.

basically, i hate playing fullhanded LHE ring (although i do it for the $$/relaxation)... its so boring. any game those vegas "pros" in the small/lowermidstales game can beat badly sucks. current structure means playing v v tight preflop will usually allow to at least break even and really minimizes how much the best players can win... SH requires much more skill is way more profitable for the better plyrs... the fish love it cause of the action... this would be now be true for the 10handed games casinos traditionally spread.

ppl may think this would break the fish, but look at NL cash... the fish have a way bigger disadvantage there, and currently there are plenty of pleasure/weak plyrs at all limits... no shortage forseeable.

also, honestly, do u guys think i should try to run a game like this? i had the opportunity to buy into half of a formally popular 20/40,30/60 game that hasnt been running as well recently... do you guys think my action packed, but volatile structure might be good for bringing back players who have moved on to PLH/PLO action games?

Your proposed structure is better for the fish, in that the standard deviation-to-winrate ratio will increase. Holdem becomes less skill, more luck. Among holdem structures, NL punishes bad players the most, then limit, then your structure.

MM has argued that 2/4 limit holdem structures have the perfect mix of luck and skill, and that other structures tend to die out. Then again, he also said that NL holdem would not be popular b/c it busts fish too quickly, so take his advice for what it is worth.

mason says blahblahblah....
maybe the ante game would be better w/ a three tier betting structure, right?
then river bets would not be so tiny relative to the pot.

how about...
1$ ante,
5/10 blinds, 20$ to open, 40$ to raise after that (then 60, then 80). Flop bets 20, turn 40, riv 40.

Havent thought about this at all from a gameplay perspective, but it'd b interesting.

this structure would only cost u $23 a round in antes/blinds... a standard 20/40 game costs $30 a round, so this structure would cost even less to wait for AA/KK/AK...
maybe 1 $10 blind, $5 a man ante, and 20 to open?
