Why did you check the turn?

Re: Folded two top pairs
To Quote Ed Miller:
"WHEN THE POT IS BIG DO NOT FOLD DECENT HANDS FOR ONE BET! Just stop doing it." |
Re: Folded two top pairs
Should have lead or check raised the turn.
Ed Miller also said, " While a bettor can be bluffing a caller can not." I would fold the river to the caller. Heads up I would call though. |
Re: Folded two top pairs
Lead the turn.
Reads are good here, but I would probably call. |

Lead the turn. Reads are good here, but I would probably call. [/ QUOTE ] You must call. You have 4 outs to a boat and a "couple" of outs the nut flush one of them gives a royal flush. I think I stick around. |
Re: Folded two top pairs
The call line is about the river not the turn. HU I call, this is tougher with one overcall already and one more to act behind us (who at least hasn't bet this hand so a raise is unlikely).
|
Re: Folded two top pairs
Lead the turn, call a raise, and bet any improvement on the river. If you get raised on the turn, and miss on the river then I think you can safely check-fold.
|
Re: Folded two top pairs
I dont think the fold is terrible. If the spade wasnt a Q or J you have to call but now I dont think so.
|
Re: Folded two top pairs
The UTG+2 call sure seems like a Tx holding a straight but is not willing to raise in the face of a possible flush. You are in the dark because you got weak on the turn. If you bet out and get raised on the turn, I think it is much easier to lay down on the river. Without that info, I make a crying call in this big pot.

Re: Folded two top pairs
You really need to lead the turn because A) there is no reason to assume you're beat and B) even if you are, you are drawing to 13 outs for the nuts.

Re: Folded two top pairs
Edited - I knew i was going mad and missing something. Duh i need sleep.
I still call for 1. |
Re: Folded two top pairs
He folded on the river after not hitting a flush.
|
Re: Folded two top pairs
I might have went for Ck. raise on flop. If you call turn I think the pot is too big to fold river for one bet. You have a good hand. I expect to see someone with a J or flush but I call anyway.

Re: Folded two top pairs
Getting 14-1 on my money, I call this roughly 100% of the time.
|
Re: Folded two top pairs
Ditto to others, you have to bet the turn. If somebody hit a straight on you so be it.
You also have to call the river bet (assuming the line you just did). As someone said, getting the odds you are getting you need to be right like 8% of the time to break even, I think that'll happen. |
Re: Folded two top pairs
WHY???? WHYY??? WHY???
>BET THAT TURN< How can you make a reasonable decision that someone has the flush?, if you get re-raised, call, and wait to see the river. You have outs to the Full house, and too many people play Ace rags. and bet heavily with them. What about AQ? AT? |
