Prop Play?
 

Can anyone tell me about what it's like being a prop player?

Obviously dont say who you are affiliated with or what have you. Is this a very stressful thing? Worth it?

Is this more profitable than bonus whoring? If not, do you have time to do both?

Just curious about the whole idea.

I have dabbled in this a very small bit.

No pressure to play. If you can only play up to a certain limit, then you just don't sit down at tables outside your range.

Typically 100% rakeback plus bonuses for lots and lots of hands played.

There are rules to follow such as getting up from full tables, etc. So you are playing short handed or 3-player ro HU quite often.

A strong shorthanded player who can really mix up his game with NL and limit play and isn't afraid to play mid-limits can do well. If you want to play at semi-full tables, you might be need to go on a micro-NL table, $2/$4 limit, mid-NL, etc.

If you will be a losing player under these circumstances, then the rakeback alone might not make it worth your time.

Almost always your bonus works off at a rate slower than the rakeback you would get as a prop. So it is more profitable than bonus whoring in that sense. But take into account your competition may be better than the competition at party poker and you need to play heads up and shorthanded well.

you also often have to play non-holdem games exclusively as well. its really not a great option unless you are just trying to learn some new games and have some fun. low limit grinding and bonus whoring is much more profitable.

I'm a pro player who is a prop. I do very well, game selection is obviously not the best but I try to play 4 tables at all times and sometimes even more.

The amount you can make from pay + profits can easily be over 6 figures.
