Detroit area casinos/hotels

There are lots of posts on the many pokerrooms in Detroit, but havent really seen anything on the hotels. I have only been to Greektown and dont think they have a hotel attached. Where would be the best bet here? If there is a hotel right next to the casino would actually be ok and actually better if its cheaper.....(Im cheap). I just do not want to have to drive to the casino from the hotel. Looking to play 10-20 or so at the pokerroom, heading there nov 19th.

any ideas/thoughts on the pokerrooms with cheapest hotels connected or right next to?

Thanks

There is a hotel across the street from the Greektown called the Athenium. It is a high end hotel and is definitely not cheap. I haven't seen any other hotels in the area and would be wary of any others that are too close. The casino is in a pretty seedy area of town.

Atheneum. You will have no problems here.

You do not want to shop around in Detroit for hotel deals as there are many places you don't want.

If you would not mind driving in to play there are many affordable options outside the city limits. PM me if you need more help.

I am from Detroit and I would not even consider ever staying at any hotel south of 8 mile unless it was the raddison or la ponchatrain. There have been numerous murders and dead bodies found in these places and I imagine the rooms are disgusting.

I would suggest you take I-75 north to I-696 W to Woodward Ave. Take Woodward Avenue northbound. North of 11 mile there is a strip of hotels/motels that are reasonably priced and extremely safe. It's about a 15 minute drive.

my problem is i bought my wife tickets to the bon jovi concert on the 19th (i know.........but thats what she wanted)
so i wont get to the casino until late and i am ditching her at the hotel. Thats why i wanted it close and didnt want to drive to the casino. But i guess if there is a hotel on the way from the palace i could drop her off and it wouldnt be a big deal. Thanks for the tips so far.

If the concert is downtown, there are two extremely expensive but very posh hotels: La Ponchatrain and the Raddison at the Renasaince(sp?) center. The people mover in downtown detroit goes from the ren cen to cobo, joe louis, and there is a stop at Greektown casino that steps off right into the Greektown poker room. Rides are like a few bucks. Hope this helps.
