Is Dusty Baker retarded?

This was the Chicago Cubs starting lineup today. (OBP)

1. Jose Macias (.282)
2. Neifi Perez (.301)
3. God (.421)
4. Nomar (.319)
5. Burshitz (.326)
6. Matt Murton, finally (.396)
7. Patterson (.254)
8. Blanco (.289)

I have never seen such an overwhelming mass of incompetence as this entire organization from top to bottom. The fact that no one will be fired for this (and will possibly get contract extensions) is a crime against humanity.

This post sucks. I just wanted to bitch.

Who, Murton? The fact that it took this long for him to get regular starts with the utter [censored] the rest of the OF has been is part of the problem. I guess I'm missing your point.

i have no idea whether he should have got starts earlier, i dont know who he is since i dont follow the cubs that closely.

you are missing my point, his 400 OBP is over a very small sample. i really doubt that this guy is going to have a OPS of 931 after 500 ABs.

I understand and agree with this, but that's besides the point. I don't think .270/.340/.440 is unreasonable for next year. Consider age and expected improvement and that is an assload better than everything else ran out there this year. My point is he isn't going to learn sitting on his ass or in the minors.

I know don't much about the Cubs situation, but you're probably right that he should be playing. My point was just that his numbers right now are a little inflated.

Dunno, but I know he's in love w/Tom Goodwin, aka the pinch hitter I want up in the bottom of the 9th, Game 7, WSOB.

Re: Is Dusty Baker retarded?

Dusty IS retarded, but what can he do? Ramirez and Barrett are hurt so Blanco and Macias have to play. Patterson can't hit so he has to bat down in the order. All those guys were going to start (I guess Walker got a day off), so really you can only complain about Macias and Perez being up there, but really they can't bat anywhere else and the Cubs' season is over anyway so who gives a damn.

He's retarded and it isn't close, do you see why?

I don't like Dusty, but please don't say things like that about Jim Hendry. He built a deep farm system in the mid 90's when he was scouting director. And has made some incredible trades in his short time as a GM.

Here's a few examples.

July 2003:
Aramis Ramirez & Kenny Lofton for Bobby Hill, Jose Hernandez & Matt Bruback

August 2003:Randal Simon for Ray Sadler
November 2003:Derrick Lee for Hee Sop Choi & Mike Nanini

December 2003:Michael Barrett for Damian Miller

July 2004:Nomar Garciapara & Matt Murton for Brendan Harris, Alex Gonzalez, Francis Beltran & Justin Jones

July 2005:Jerome Williams & David Aardsma for LaTroy Hawkins
