if anyone has them I'd be interested in hearing a quick review about texture, handling, etc.

Those look like dice chips. Dice chips typically have a very smooth texture (slippery) and a nice "clank" when you drop them into a pot because there is a metal clug in the middle of each chip.

I checked the add -- whenever I see the phrase 11.5g chips, I immediately think "dice" chips or their first cousins.

My personal opinion about dice chips -- they're as good as Paulsons for the function of 'keeping score', but the same can be said about pennies, buttons or matchsticks.

I don't love the feel, they don't really stack well, and the metallic plink when you drop them bothers me. Basically, I think that there are better chips out there for the money.

I went with the 'faux clay' chips, though the lack of edge spots, and the 'dimple' where they inject the compound bothers some people.

I've heard excellent things about the Soprano chips, which are a little prettier.

For my money, I'd get either of those two.

Better still, buy a sample set of chips, and decide for yourself what you like the best. They're available from most of the major chip dealers.

Thanks a lot guys. I think I'll look into some alternatives.
