PS $22 - JJ, flopped set, A on board with flush draw

Couple questions about this one:

- Like the pot-sized flop bet?
- Turn check deceptive or FPS?
- Size of the river bet? Worried about flush?

Holla.

I hate the turn check, push your money in man. There's how many draws out there????

He could be on a flush draw, straight draw, have two pair, etc etc. If he likes his hand, stack him.

I bet just a little less on the flop...180-200ish - I don't mind an Ace, or even a FD paying to see the turn. I'm puzzled a bit as to why you slowed down on the turn. QT doesn't necessarily fit calling your PF riase, or chasing the gut-shot turn on the flop call. I'm hitting him again hard on the turn here. I'm assuming you weren't giving a free river to a FD for the purpose of having him bluff bet the river.

Why is it that so many people like to raise as a bluff / semi-bluff but yet find it so difficult to actually bet / raise with the best hand?

It's a 22, get value from your great hands. You'll get a call of a nice size turn bet. Personally, I'm pushing the turn.

What was going through my mind on the turn was that a flush draw probably wouldn't call 100% pot bet (which is midly dubious logic), and that if he had AK I could extract a lot of value by making myself seem less strong on the turn.

Does that make any sense? In hindsight, it makes a lot less sense than while I was doing it.

Checking the turn is tragic.

I'm seeing that more now, but am still curious as to what besides AKs and (maybe) AQs calls a 5xBB pf raise and a 100% pot-sized bet on the flop? Or am I giving too much credit to the play at 22s?

Re: PS $22 - JJ, flopped set, A on board with flush draw

I don't like to think of it as giving credit or not because I don't particularly feel like a big genius when I raise a big PP preflop, flop all undercards, and then lose all my money to someone with 79 who hits 2-pair.

But, yes, people in the $22s are not that tight. 2/3 of the people in the $109s are not that tight.

right i defintiely didn't mean my question to have any kind of authoritiative tone, as i just started playing 22s... oh let's see..... 6 days ago.

but understanding calling ranges is something i'm really trying to work on in my game. this has all been very helpful. thanks as always.

Don't take this the wrong way, but this is one of the worst turn checks I have ever seen.
