How to Cheat Your Friends at Poker

Has anyone read this book? Is it worth getting?

I've read it. I did not care for it and ultimately decided not to put it in the ConJelCo catalog.

It isn't that it is a bad book. It's just an unpleasant book. Penn has this "in your face" persona that comes across and I just didn't enjoy reading it.

That is not to say that I didn't learn anything from it. I just didn't enjoy the read.

If you want to learn cheating moves I recommend the classic The Expert at the Card Table by S. W. Erdnase. It won't tell you how to cheat at poker, but it will certainly show you how to cheat.

If you enjoy Penn and Teller's HBO show called "Bul#$h&t" you will enjoy how the book is written. I just checked it out from the library and found it entertaining - not for kids, lots of f words. I decided not to finish reading it because I don't play in any home games. It is a no limit texas hold'em book believe it or not.

It really is about how to cheat and not aimed for people who want to protect themselves from cheating. It is for people who plan to actually cheat.

I respectfully disagree. I have always enjoyed Penn & Teller, their TV show, including Bul#$h&t. I just found the book to be a bit too mean spirited.

Also, it is not just about cheating at home games (though that predominates.)

somone from this site should write a book on how to cheat online. It would be a great read.

I really enjoyed this book! Where else are you going to learn how to park your car for a quick getaway, how to screw the host's wife, how to take a beating when you're caught, and much much more. Instant classic deserves to be in every poker library.

FWIW Penn didn't write the book, he just took the notes from "Dickey Richard" and made a book out of them for Dickey (whom he owed a favor too) and is giving Dickey the cash for the book sales.
