Preflop standards following a declined-option poster

Online mid-limit game with a 1/2 blind structure. A new and unknown player has posted in the cutoff. The action folds to him and he checks his option. You are next to act on the button. The blinds are both moderately tight/ conservative/ straightforward players who play okay. What range of hands are you raising here? I was in this spot recently and surprised myself by raising with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Is that good?

I don't know if its good, but i'd do it. I made a post a while ago about a similiar situation in a B&M game and got lit up, but I still think its a good play.

It's amazing how often you either take down the pot pre flop, or with a bet on the flop. Raise any two.
