hard drives, dead computers and what not...
 
my computer died a few weeks back and i need to get stuff off of it's hard drive and on to my new computer.

how do i go about doing this? is it as simple as plugging the old HD into the new computer? any help is appreciated...


i know this goes in computer help, but nobody reads that forum.

Google it. It's pretty easy to do if the hard drive is still okay.

Ok I'll bite

Depends how the computer "Died" if it just wouldnt turn on one day, at all , then most liekly the hard drives ok. If it dies becasue when you tried to boot it up it said non system disk or disk error you may have problems, but all is not lost.

It is as "simple" as plugging it into a new PC . However depending how old the computer is and how "fancy" your new one is you may not be able to plug it right in.

Alot of new PC's have SATA Hard Disks , yours is probably IDE.

PM me and I'll give you a hand , I can also direct you to some file recover programs/ disk repair utilities you can download etc.
