Go tribe. As a White Sox fan, I'm pulling for Cleveland. In the wild card only, of course. The other posts in this thread make it clear we're in the minority on this board. Heaven forbid we've got a few threads that don't discuss the Yankees and Red Sox. Puke. Those we've definitely got enough of.

Yesterday's game was SICK. 10-0 after 2 innings. So great to put the nail in Minnesota's coffin after the past few years. They are done for 2005.

Nearly outscored the Brownies yesterday.

CC tonight. We sweep the A's and they are done too.

TRIBE!

5 1/2 games out, 6 in the loss column. YTD, 3-10 vs. the White Sox. Wrong. Sorry. I'm pulling for them in the wild card race though.

I'm having trouble seeing the tie-in between the D-Rays post all-star break record and the Indian's chances at the Central title.

Here's a good one...what is the Indians record against the White Sox since the all-star break?

They will be good games. And as long as the Tribe is fewer games behind than they have head-to-head with the ChiSox, I think they are in it.

Re: Bump this thread every day the indians remain in the wild card lea

Six games doesn't sound like a lot, but the Sox have 20 games left and the Tribe has 18. That's going to be tough to overcome. Just to give you an idea, if the Sox finish off the year at .500 -- just 10-10, Cleveland needs to finish off their last 18 games at 15-3 just to tie and force a 1-game playoff. Every game the White Sox have remaining is against the AL Central, against which they're 40-14. Therefore the chances they'll finish at or below .500 in thier last 20 is very unlikely.

Re: Bump this thread every day the indians remain in the wild card lead

Arthur Rhodes is leaving the Indians for the remainder of the season.

Rhodes has been excellent this year with a 2.08 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 43 Ks in 43.1 IP. He missed almost all of August for the same family reasons in the linked article.

Rhodes was the #1 lefty in the Cleveland bullpen. His role will be taken by Scott Sauebeck.

It all depends on how they play the Sox. If they can get the better of them they have a chance. If not, I don't like their chances in the Wild Card.

They are as hot as can be right now and the White Sox are slumping. The White Sox have games against Det and KC so they should win some there. They also have two series against Minn. Minn. is a funny team and can sweep or be swept. The way they are playing, more likely they will be swept. The only other series are two against the Indians. Thus, if they can beat the sox in those 6 games, they have a good chance at winning the division. If not, I don't think the wild card chance is very good, but still possible because the other teams are not entirely strong and have to play two more games than the Indians which is a chance for two more losses.

WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!

2 run HR in the middle of the game then 3 run HR in the 8th BOTH from Broussard. This team is deep.

On another note, it's too bad about Rhodes. He was very, very dependable for the Tribe this year and one of the main reasons the Indians have the best bullpen in the MLB. I expect him to be replaced with Francisco Cordero, who has been either very hot or very cold this season in few appearances.

The Sox have already damaged the Tribe to the tune of a 10-3 record this season. Why would anybody count on that?

Re: Bump this thread every day the indians remain in the wild card lea

i'll elaborate. I dont think the yankees are favorites to win the WC, but its going to be a close race. If the yankees lose any series, theyre pretty much out of the running barring a complete meltdown by cleveland and boston.

but this will be close, they are tied in the loss column so i dont care how big the strength of schedule difference is, its a close race.

also, the yankees have a not too shabby schedule. 4 series against baltimore and toronto.

I know right now they are not favorites, but it is damn close.

No. I also don't think they're going to continue to play as poorly as they did in August, and I don't think the Tribe will continue to be as hot as they have been. Let's face it. They're not going to sweep the White Sox in 6 games.

No one is saying they will sweep the Sox. As a Tribe fan, I will be happy with a split in the series. If we get through those 2 series just 3-3, all we have left is the D-Rays and the ROYALS, IIRC.

I couldn't agree more. I'd be thrilled with a sweep as well. That would pretty much lock the division. Seriously though, I really am pulling for the Tribe. They've got a good young team, and I think they're going to make for some good division races for the years to come.

HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE HRS.

Defense was big tonight as well. More than one key DP, and not easy ones either.

We've split the series but outscored them with 2 swings, that is how good both teams pitching has been. Now to beat Zito. We got to Santana, we can get to him.
