How old are you? 28

Birthday? Aug. 19, 1976

Where do you live? Madison, Wisconsin. Actually, I live in a small town outside of Madison called Evansville, but it's just easier to say Madison.

Are you married? I am married to a cute red-head named Katie. We've been married for about 5 years, and we were together four years before we tied the knot. We have one child - a 10-month-old boy named Maxwell.

Occupation besides poker? I am a copy editor at the Wisconsin State Journal newspaper. Formerly the sports editor of a newspaper in Key West, FL.

Favorite movie? Too many to name - but I'll throw out The Godfather I & II, The Big Lebowski and Scream for starters.

Best poker acomplishment? This will seem pretty weak for a lot of you, but I won the Stars $20 MTT one Friday night in February for about $3,600. Also took 19th in the Stars $11+R once. Long term, after playing $10 SNGs at Party and Stars for about 1 year, my ITM is at about 41 percent, which I am proud of.

How long been playing? a year and a half

I'm 24. Born December 8, 1980 in Liverpool, England. I was born the same exact day John Lennon was shot and I was born in the Beatles' home town. Strange eh?

I live in Arlington, VA (Ballston). Currently single. Ain't no girl lucky/crazy enough. No children that I know of.

I just started a job as a mortgage broker but I don't like it so I might quit and go back to the grind.

2002 graduate of James Madison U. in Harrisonburg, VA. B.A. in Political Science. I wish I had majored in Finance.

Some of my favorite movies are Swingers, Made, The Boondock Saints, American Beauty, Happy Gilmore, Clerks, etc.

My best poker accomplishment? Just look at my location!

I've been playing for three years.

That basically has funded my poker roll which I've built up over the last few months by playing the $55 SNGs. I'm not a very good player, in my opinion. I play well PF, which works well in SNGs but my postflop play is weak. I'm a very low variance type of player in tournaments. I'll money often, but won't make many final tables.</font>

Re: How old are you? Where do you live? Best poker achievement?

First, my name is Dan Gordon, and although I am not a big poster here, I lurk all the time. I am hoping to improve my MTT play and hopefully post here with the rest of you real soon.

I am 21 years old, and my birthday is November 18th.
I live in Coldwater, Michigan, but I am currently attending Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.

I am not married, but my girlfriend and I have been together for over four years, and we will likely get married after we both graduate from college. Also, I have no children, but would like to have a couple when the time is right.

I am studying Accounting at Michigan State, and hope to one day become a Certified Public Accountant. I should be graduating in the next couple of years, but I am in no hurry to get out into the "real world" yet.

Hands down, my favorite movie of all time is The Usual Suspects, but Boondock Saints gives it a run for its money.

Favorite band is The Strokes, but I also enjoy listening to Bright Eyes, Belle and Sebastian, Interpol, The Libertines, and others.

Favorite authors are Robert Jordan (The Wheel of Time), Robert Ludlum (The Bourne Trilogy, among others), Stephen King, and... J.K. Rowling (of Harry Potter fame).

I have only been playing poker for about ten or twelve months now, so my poker accomplishments are not as lofty as some of the others in this topic. I have finished 11th/221 in a Limit Hold 'Em tournament, and 21st/579 in a Limit Omaha High/Low tournament. However, in my opinion, my best poker accomplishment is turning $50 into (currently) over $600 at the micro-limits. I only hope that this bankroll continues to grow so that I can play in more tournaments with the rest of you.

I know you guys are thinking "Who is this guy?" but I hope that sometime in the near future I can be a solid contributor to this board.

Me:

-29, January 11
-Eugene, OR
-Girlfriend of around 6 yrs (oy). 1 dog, 3 cats
-Computer security (breaking software and networks)
-BS back in 1997, working on my MS in CS now
-So many movies - Godfather, Scarface, Cool Hand Luke, Tommy Boy, Red Dawn, etc.
-Have been playing poker for many years, seriously for about 4-5. No super acheivements in MTTs. Won a few small ones. I'd say my best poker accomplishment so far was taking $11,000 off the table after a 14 hour session on the $2/$5 blind NL table at Turning Stone after buying in for $400.
-I play banjo, guitar, ukulele. Like to run, hike, snowboard, etc.

I'm a newb here, but what the heck.

I'm 32, live in Oakville (outside of Toronto), married with
one kid (19 mnths)

At the moment I work, and my bills are huge so I likely need to keep doing so. Really love to take down STT's like zee or raptor, but way too much lack of skill at this point.

I am studying various things at all times from stats to trying to do an mba to career stuff (i'm in IT)

Favorite movies are guy ritchie types like lock stock and two smoking barrels, and brad pitts best movie ever, snatch.

I've been playing online for a little over a year now with any type of seriousness, and can 2-3 table 20+2s and 30+3s at Party for low, but ok ROI which funds my MTT habits. Best mtt's aren't great, but 7th/2000 and 6th/1400 in 30/20+ mtts on party.

My PIC is here for anyone who got this far ;-)

Re: How old are you? Where do you live? Best poker achievement?

I love these threads! Thank you all for contributing and adding "flesh" to our somewhat skeleton-like virtual community!

Here's me:
Turned 46 on July 12, where I played my very first WSOP event (#44, $1,000 buy-in), busted Varkonyi out and finished in the money! Best birthday since I moved to the US!

Living in New York City - moved here from Copenhagen, Denmark, 6 years ago and have yet to look back.

Married the Mouse (Crazy Mouse) 2 years ago; unless I win a major event there's just not going to be money for raising children in Manhattan!

Working as self-employed geriatric Social Worker (the least) and office manager in Architectural firm (the most).

Technically I'm still trying to finish the final thesis for my Industrial Psychology degree at the University of Copenhagen. Could still happen, although it's probably not going to land me any jobs on this side of the Atlantic.

Films: Blue Velvet or Reservoir Dogs - can't really make up my mind.

Won a PStars $10 buy-in MTT (1,100 players), finished second in a $50 buy-in (300 players), 15th in a $200 buy-in (2,000+ players).

Played my first hand of Hold'em in AC 1997, my first limit-SnG on Paradise in 2000, my first No-Limit tourney on PSO 4 years ago.

I'm a slow learner, working 40+ hours a week and mainly playing when I'm really too tired doesn't help, but I've steadily been booking progress over the years, and I know I'll get there eventually.

Ambition: To win the WSOP Senior's event! No cocky 21-year olds with baseball caps and sun glasses! Can't wait to turn 50, lol!

Oh, and here's my WSOP picture: Vegas, baby!

Best,

McMelchior (Johan)

-I am 23. April 16th 1982 is my birthdate.

-I live in Seattle Washington.

-I am not married, but have saved $10K of $14K for an engagement ring for my girlfriend of almost 2 years.

-I graduated as an IS major from the University of Washington in December of 2004.

-I work for the "IT Department" for Safeco Insurance. I put it in quotations because we basically do everything. (related to IT at least)

-My favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption

-My best poker accomplishments are winning a $33 MTT on Party for ~8K (after 8 months of playing) and making the final table 2/3 times I have played in the Thursday night Mirage tourney ($225 + $200 rebuy). I took first last month on June 2nd for ~8K and a year before that I took 7th. The first time that I played in it I busted near the bubble in 13th (top 9 paid) on an outdraw (KK vs. 77) and the lucky guy hit his set on the turn. I swore I'd be back each year to dominate that tournament, and I have.

Also, for my last 6 months of college, I played poker "professionally" as in paid 2 quarters tuition, books, rent, gas, "party money" and food. I ended up playing more than I was originally working though (to make money, and also as part of an addiction...heh)

-I've been playing for 2 and a half years. I've been "gambling" for 5.

Re: How old are you? Where do you live? Best poker achievement?

I am 21, birthday is April 18th.

I live in Oklahoma.

I have been married for almost a month now.

I was a student but I gave that [censored] up.

I don't really have a favorite movie right now, I like alot of them

I have been playing poker for about 2 1/2 years now.

My best accomplishment would probably be winning the Friday Special for $38,000 3 weeks ago. I am also pretty proud of the day that I started 4 multis (109 on party, 110 10k on empire, 215 o8 on stars, and 11r 25k gtd on stars) and bubbled in the party one, won the 110 empire for 3000, won the 215 o8 for 7000 and won the 11r 25k gtd for 11000. Winning 3 tourneys all at the same time felt pretty good.

How old are you?
Younger than some, older than many

Where do you live?
Everywhere and nowhere, many homes around the world.

Are you married? Girlfriend/Boyfriend? Children?
Engaged

Occupation besides poker?
Professional

If studying, what and where?
The studying never stops. All that changes is the topic and the priority. Technology, international affairs, foreign language, game theory, mathematics, poker, whatever.

Favorite movie?
Too many to list. I'm a bit of a movie buff.

Best poker acomplishment?
Now this one I like. I find it very interesting that the other respondents have put down all their big wins. I also have some wins, but they aren't what I feel are my best accomplishments.

I think my best accomplishments are a couple of tournaments where I had absolute garbage preflop cards for the vast majority of the tournaments, yet managed to optimize gains of the few hands I did make, and then do enough stealing, semi-bluffing and outright bluffing to survive and make it into the money. I think anyone with a little talent and luck can make a final table or even win a tournament when Jupiter aligns with Mars. But it is the rare person who can make something from nothing and I'm proud that I did that in a couple of cases.

Another example was playing in a ring game this week. I was getting turned and rivered so much, if I didn't get tire tracks on my face on the turn, then I got my head dunked on the river. I was stuck somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-70 big bets. But I knew this was a good game and urged myself to hang in there and stay confident. I managed to dig myself about halfway out before I became just too tired to play. I was really proud of the way I trusted my instincts and stuck it out to play more.

How long been playing?
Kind of a loaded question. For poker, I've been a serious student on and off for about 15 years, but only started playing a lot again recently. But before that, I was an expert in casino blackjack and did fairly well as a part time card counter. The casino industry has also been a serious hobby of mine for almost 20 years.

Feel free to add any other information or pictures about yourself you want to share.

No pictures, thank you very much, not a pretty sight. I love what poker represents over and above the money. It is mano a mano competition. It represents the best and worst in people.

It is a search for the answers to questions. It is a search for the truth (even if the truth is a lie). It is a study of human beings and human nature.

It has exposed my own weaknesses and frailties and allowed me an opportunity to improve upon them. It has shown me what my strengths are and how and when to use them to my advantage.

Everything that I have learned from poker, I have been able to apply in other parts of life, especially at work and in negotiations. It is becoming second nature to study a person for a minute or two and be able to tell how they are feeling, if they are worried about something, if they are trying to pull the wool over my eyes, etc.

I'm new to the MTT forum but I hope to be posting a lot here in the near future. Most of my posts have come from Micro LHE, SSHE, and to a lesser extent HUSH. So mostly I've played LHE for my whole career and am trying to learn MTTs for various reasons.

By the way I love AIM as a resource to discuss hands, concepts, strategies and everything else dealing with poker. If anyone feels like having a conversation about a hand they just busted out on, some MTT strategy or theory or just whatever, please AIM me at josh1slim. I really enjoy it, even if it's just "how's this hand?" "nh, looks good".

I'm 19, my birthday is May 13, 1986.

I live in Alabama, but I will be living in Fukuoka, Japan for the upcoming school year (September-May) to "study".

Totally single, no kids.

No occupation besides poker ATM. I am looking into taking up sports betting though.

Well my major currently is Computer Science, but I might be changing that to Asian Studies or Business or who the hell knows what. I have no idea what I want to study, just trying to enjoy myself and life at the moment. Over the next year I'll be concentrating on Japanese language and culture.

I don't have a specific favorite movie. Among my favorites are Dr. Strangelove, Rushmore, and to throw in something more recent I also enjoyed Zoolander.

My best poker accomplishment is beating Party Poker 5/10 6max for a respectable rate over 150K hands. Second place is beating Party Poker 10/20 6max for a smaller but still respectable rate over 30k hands (is that even an accomplishment? I don't know.)
I've been playing poker for about a year and a half, been playing seriously online (started at .5/1 LHE) since about December.

Some of my goals in the future:
Beat mid/high NLHE games.
Beat mid/high LHE games.
Beat mid/high buyin MTTs.
Play in some WSOP events at some point, and hopefully do well.
