river plan in protected pot.

I've been at this table about 10 hands, so no useful reads on anyone. I'm curious whether I should be betting this river. I can't put anyone on an ace or a flush when it's checked to me, so my instinct is to do so. Note there's an all-in player, so the side pot is $15 plus whatever goes in on the river.

(I'm presuming the turn bet is fine, although if anyone disagrees with it let me know.) If I bet and see fold+raise back to me, what's my plan? How about raise+fold? I'd fold to raise+call or call+raise, but I'm curious about the other two.

Definitely bet the river. Too many worse hands call.

Excellent. I was 90% sure on that one. (I haven't played limit in a year or so and I'm finally trying to learn to play well.) Any thoughts on whether I call if one opponent raises and the other folds? Does it matter which does which?

That A is a nice card to see, bet the river.

I call down, the pots large and an 8 could be screwing around.

I think a river value bet is in order as that second Ace makes it less likely for your opponent to have it

Bet the river. If you are raised, fold. It's highly unlikely you will be raised by an 8, and you may well be playing for the 3BB side pot only.

Good luck.

Okay, now while this is true (meaning Im not going to argue with the mathematics), I see this all the time (and this statement can be argues, so 50/50 of the time) where two aces hit and someone OUT OF FIVE has an ace. Not to mention the flush, no reads, could be passive players (I doubt a flush is there, but could be) -- now I bet the river, I belive you are playing for the side pot, so build it up and its true a lot of worse hands will call u.

I think u are beat, but maybe its just cause the last 2000 hands, the ones that come up like this, I have been beat. But I had KK-QQ.

This was my plan when they checked to me. I bet, BB raised, MP folded and I folded. I'm now not entirely pleased with my river fold, but that's more a results-based thing.

Is the river check-raise bluff at all common in these games?

I haven't played 3/6 in a while, but when I did it was not common. It virtually doesn't matter though, since you have to assume there's a decent chance catching a bluff only wins you the side pot. You need much better odds than normal to call here.

You mention that the results disappointed you... what were they? I don't see them in the thread.

Thanks.
Eric
