Giving a \"great\" gift.......

So, a friend gives me a really nice holiday gift this year. It's a Sirius Sportster Replay, and a one year prepaid subscription service.

Pretty cool, but I got to thinking.

What if he had not included a subsciption, or only paid for the first month? Giving a gift that costs the recipient money, time, or effort falls into a special class.

I thought about some gifts I might give to people that I wanted to insult in some way, here are a few....

1. A trial length membership to a gym.
2. A casino chip for $25 at someplace far away from where my 'pal' was likely to ever go.
3. A gift certificate that must be used by the person named, to a place my 'pal' would never go.
4. A charity donation to the religious group that my 'pal' most disagrees with, in his/her name.
5. Number 4, but only if they aggressively seek additional donations from prior donors (my pal).

And so on, give me your best ideas. Or any other thoughts.

I saw some people give a girl a cell phone for her birthday once. She didn't have a cell phone. Now she was going to have to pay for cell service. Maybe there was a reason she never had a cell phone. I should ask her about that.

No no no. That's just mean to the puppy.

Wine club to an alcoholic.
Chocolates to someone on a diet.
Flowers to someone allergic.
Massage to someone ashamed of their back hair.
An orchid to someone who can't keep a catus alive.
A "defective" smoke alarm/ alarm clock/ noise thing.
An email greeting card with a virus.
I could go on...

Getting used to it. Took it on a 2000 mile trip, had to change the transmit frequncy about 8-10 times, gets easy after awhile.

Looking into "adapter" for home use.

By and large enjoying it. It is not perfect, but it does pretty well. Hate losing the signal parked under bridges, overhangs, and so on.
