15-30 hand, what to do agianst the weak lead?

I was standing behind a buddy when he showed me his hand first in on button A8 off. He raised sb called and bb folded. The flop was j55 and sb leads out. Whats your play?

Default I'd fold but it really depends on who SB is.

Fold it or raise it, dont call.

Thats what i said depends who the player is. He was an unknown but was a young kid with alot of chips in front of him. Not that that means alot but generlly this type of opponent seems to try and bluff and take pots away from opponents. I should have mentioned my buddy is a pro but with a conservative image.

A lot of hands are going to be betting at you here - a pocket pair seems likely. I'd raise the flop - if he just calls and checks to you on the turn, check behind unless you spike an A or 8. I'd call a singular bet on the river with Ace high, as well. If he three-bets the flop, call, and fold the turn UI.

Does this line make sense? I think you want to try to get to showdown here as cheaply as possible; it's unlikely you're going to get a pocket pair to fold, but you have some equity with possible high card and draws to a pair.

Why is this?

Yes sit makes sense. I agree mostly. Basically that ios what i tol ihm to do. But thought agianst real tough players that pay attention flat calling flop and rasng turn and checking behind on river might be more effective. As they may fold those little pairs on the turn buut less liely fold little pair to flop raise. I put him on pair below jacks mmost liely 44's 33. or 22' or a stone bluff.

I also think folding is avalid option. As it is a small pot why get involved in such a marginal situtaion. But thats why i posted it. I think you can make a valid argument for almost all options. And couldnt figure out which is best.
