Stealing the blinds with QQ

Villain is new to the table, but over 50 datamined hands, he's 28/18/4.5

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
5 folds, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, 1 fold, Hero calls.

Flop: (7 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.50 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

River: (6.50 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 8.50 BB

Thoughts? I had originally intended to somewhat slowplay them, perhaps raising the turn, but the K on the flop changed my mind, although against someone with those numbers I'm still fairly sure my hand is good a solid portion of the time. I don't know, can anyone find a raise in there?

I'd cap preflop, you know, so he won't 3-bet me when I'm stealing with 87s. Slowplaying is fine I guess. Aslong as villain will go batsh1t crazy with A8s on a 874 flop.

Postflop looks prefect.

I always cap preflop QQ-88 in these situations but only sometimes with AA/KK.

I think the postflop play is fine. If he has a K you certainly don't want to raise as he isn't folding and you don't want to raise him out of the pot. It's really only bad if he has a 6 or 3 and is drawing to five outs but that won't be the situation as often with small cards...

Gotta cap preflop. Postflop I Like. Don't let him off his bluff cheap, don't cost yourself money the times he has KT or 33

Ditto on the preflop cap. I don't see QQ as stealing LOL. I'm stealing from you when I raise with my 87o (eric, I might be overdoing alot now heh heh).

I like the line. I probably wouldna had the discipline to play it like that, but I like the line.

If we cap preflop, what is the plan then if villain bets the flop? Still a call-down? His postflop bets seems much more scary if we were the one that put in the last raise preflop.

I still just call down. You are WA/WB so let him continue to bet the worst hand or you lose the minimum if he spiked a K.

Re: Stealing the blinds with QQ

if you want to raise, raise the river because if he has a K he won't 3-bet you because he'll be scared of the flush. Plus, if he was bluffing or betting something like 99, you'll get the max out of him.

For what it's worth, I would cap this the vast majority of the time, just chose to mix it up on this particular hand. As for finding a raise, I agree with one of the posts that if it's there, it's on the river. That being said, I don't think I'm going to get called by a worse hand often enough to make it profitable.

I see a lot of people saying cap pre-flop. Does anyone else see this as an excellent "disquise your hand" scenario? Villian 3 bet us and by just calling we let him think we don't have a really good hand here and are just hoping to hit the flop. He will then be lead to believe he can push us off of it by betting into us the whole time.

I would expect if you cap pre-flop, he checks the flop to you, you bet, he folds. Putting you on AK, KQ, or high pockets. I think you get more money out of him by calling the 3 bet, and calling his bully attempts post-flop.

You lose less money against AK, AA, KK, KQ and you win more overall (I believe) against smaller pockets QJ, J10, etc.

against this guy, I'd raise this river alot. He will have a lower PP, or some random one pair hand that he won't fold. His aggression is pretty high. I'd expect to raise, get called, and win, a lot.
