always car posts, how about a watch?

i'm content with my '98 corolla for at least a couple more years, but would like to get a nice watch with some winnings.

i'm considering the following but am open to any suggestions:

Re: always car posts, how about a watch?

the first one is the most vulgar and ugly thing ive seen in a while. and duh, rolexs are nice.

if i saw someone get out of a 98 corolla and had a rolex on, i would definitely think it was really weird.

That first one is way too blingin'. The other two are nice.

I have this one. It was like $500 and it's nice enough.

I've been thinking about a watch too, I want something better than basic but probably not a Rolex.

This watch seems very plain...I think you're paying about $300 for the watch and about $1000 for the words "Tag Heuer"

welcome to the world of watches that cost over $300!

same thing happens with clothes, cars, televisions.

It takes a lot of balls to charge that much for a watch with a LEATHER strap.

I cant find a damn picture for the life of me, but if you go to the rolex site, and look at the flash dealy, I think Im going to eventually purchase the Rolex Cellini Costello, with the black band and black face. Ive seen them for about 3k, but they retail for 5500.

Rolex Submariner is what I have. Not a bad investment, just hate that when I dont where it for awhile I need to wind it up again. Mainly use my Kenneth Cole for everyday use.

sorry for the crappy pic my webcam doesnt get enough light and the razr cam isnt all that much better. I need a digi cam for christmas -_-

EDIT: I found this pic online. Difference is my submariner has a black face not navy. Same 18kt gold and steel.

I have a 100$ Seiko watch that fits all my needs. Why do you need/want an expensive watch, and what is the obsession with having expensive watch? Seems like man-jewelry to me, which I am against

this is my watch:

not much good if you don't run. but if you do run, then it will tell you how far you've gone, and will determine your instantaneous pace. very helpful for the concerned runner. and very neurotic-making.

12700 retail but about 4k less "grey market" (no manufacturer warranty)

If you really want to do this, tell us what you want. Chrono/no chrono? White/Black face? Leather/metal strap? Auto/quartz?

Do tell.

chisness 12-14-2005 02:34 AM

Re: always car posts, how about a watch?

i dont think 90% of people notice or care about watch brands, so it probably wouldn't look like anything.

however, some logic is that while neither is a good investment, a watch depreciates a lot less, lasts forever, can be passed on, etc.

chisness 12-14-2005 02:36 AM

Re: always car posts, how about a watch?

chrono: no, but yes date.
face: doesn't matter.
strap: metal bracelet.
movement: auto unless a jacob.

You can browse Baume & Mercier at their website for the entire catalog.
They're like the 5th or 6th oldest watch maker.

i got the rolex submariner with a stainless band and black bezel. i drive a 99 civic. i wear white t-shirts and jeans. i don't look at all like a dick with a rolex, yet i am a dick with a rolex. anything with diamonds or jewels is not good.

Bob, you obviously haven't realized that the new baller gear is white tees and jeans. Get yourself a big chain and maybe earrings and go to the nearest Minnesota hip hop club and floss.

I really like Oris watches. They're reasonably priced, too.

I know you don't want a chrono, but I think this one is very clean-looking.

The second one is the same as my watch (but mine is on a bracelet).
