What video game should I get?
 

I am not much of a video game guy. 8 years ago when the new Frogger game came out for Playstation, a friend of mine stayed up all night and called in sick the next day so we could solve the game. I don't think I've played a game since. I am intrigued by the new Godfather game, and I have been told that Civilation 4 is a cool game. I'd rather not buy an Xbox or whatever and would prefer to just play it on my computer, which only really gets used for poker and porn. Thoughts?

You should tell us what you're looking for. Mindless distraction, high energy, deep thinking, etc.

High energy would mean you might want to get whatever the hot FPS is, if you're looking for something slower paced and more immersive Civ 4 is incredible.

FEAR is one of the best FPS games I've ever played, and I have been recommending this to folks the past month or two. But the problem with most FPS games for PC today is that they require such high end hardware to play them decently. Make sure you got an uber fast comp to play any new generation graphic intensive PC games.

What kind of specs we talking about?

Half-Life 2 is a great game if your computer's up for it. Some good multi-player internet games that are good are Counter-Strike & StarCraft.

I have Civ4. I like it but it wastes a lot of my time and only took me 'til the 3rd time I played it to completely pwn it. Now I dominate it on any level every time I boot it up. Still somewhat fun to just destroy the opponents though.

assuming you dont have a top of the line gaming comp, half life 2 and fear wouldnt be a good choice, niether would something like call of duty 2 or battlefield 2, these require pretty decent systems, and youd be cheaper buying an xbox or PS2 instead.

Starcraft is an oldie but goodie, command and conquer is the same type of game but with a more military feel, both are real time strategy where you are a commander and control hordes and hordes of troops tanks, etc. I havent played Civ 4 but heard its pretty good. There are a mound of games out there, maybe look at an EBgames store, or gamestop and see whats out, alot of the times you can get a preowned game.

A little more information on your computer and what your looking for would be better.
