Using newsgroups

Is there a good how-to anywhere? I'm using Outlook Express' newsreader, and have winrar should I find something I want, but I have no idea how it works.

Thanks

Re: Using newsgroups

Check your ISP's website. Some I've seen give some basic info about Usenet. I don't use windows myself but know that Free Agent is a popular windows newsreader. If the groups you spend time in are mostly text I'm guessing OE is probably fine. You read those groups just like reading email. If the groups you spend time in a binary groups then this is what I think windows ppl prefer FA for (and why you'd need rar).

Edit: All of Usenet is 100% text but what I meant was some are just ppl's messages and some have binary files cut into pieces of text (rar puts them back together).

Here's a good guide. It covers downloading files from newsgroups, but I think you will find a lot of good info, Newsreaders, Newsgroups, connecting, etc.
