Will this year\'s ME have more entrants than next year?

Will this year's ME have more entrants than next year?

I think lots of people are going to the puppet show this year, and lots of people will see the strings. I don't see poker blowing up enough to compensate for the number of people who will be playing this year, and realize it's a "waste of time / money" (in their estimate) and never go back.

It's almost guarenteed that it's not gonna blow up like it did last year but I still see it growing. I think its almost a lock that the 2006 ME will have more entrants.I think there is still plenty of fish out there.

I think there's plenty of fish out there. And I think more and more people will continue to start playing socially. But I think this is the big year as far as people dropping $10,000 to play in the ME.

Every dead money player who doesn't cash will probably go home and tell every one they know, not only keeping the original dead money player out, but all of the dead money player's friends who may have had it in the back of their mind may be getting talked out of it now.

wow, I couldn't disagree with you more. Stars alone produced over a thousand internet qualifiers this year. As long as someone like me can pony up enough cash for a 27+rebuy and end up with a 10K entry into a world championship event, there will be more people coming to the series. Not only that, this years winner will win around 10 million dollars! I don't think we are anywhere near to peaking on this poker thing.

We'll see next year who is right.

If there is another Moneymaker story than there will be more entrants next year. A rank not so well-known pro winning it or having no name players at the final table will hurt next years showing (not by much though)

Couldn't be said better. $10,000 to 10 million, let alone $27, you just can't imagine how many dead money players will jump to that oppurtunity. I think the success stories will draw more people than the sob stories will make people not want to go.

Good point. I didn't even once think about all the online entry winners.

Perhaps a little more next year but we wont get to 10K entrants anytime soon IMHO..

Poker is pretty much as big as it is gonna get .... but hey if a donkey like me can now stepp into a live game and expect to make 40 bucks an Hr its already damn big.
