Announcement of the site hosting the 1st & Last events

Hi everyone,

We're finally ready to start moving forward with announcing the sites who will be participating in the ISOP. Once again, we'd like to thank you for your patience.

As a new member of the "Big 4", Prima Poker is a network of card rooms that is on the way up, and this attracted our initial attention to having them as a possible host for the 1st/final events. Specifically, one of their best "skins," Royal Vegas Poker, completely blew us away with their enthusiasm. They've made a whole new department to deal with the ISOP, and some of their promos will be very beneficial to 2+2ers (ie, we expect some nice overlays to be developed.)This enthusiasm will translate to Royal Vegas Poker becomming a cornerstone that the ISOP will build on, to become an success for both the sites and most importantly the players involved.

We are proud to announce Royal Vegas Poker as the host site for the 1st and final events. Further information on the other hosts will be coming available shortly now, but Royal Vegas will have the 1st chance at making a millionaire out of a 2+2er, and will also be hosting, what will likely be the biggest tournament in Internet poker history.

Good luck everyone!

they do have alot of pros endorsing the site so it should get nice exposure. but get those utility bills in order! seriously, do they have same policy as gaming club for the verification documents?

Will we be able to play from any Prima site or will we have to be logged in through RV?

FYI, you can sign up for RV through ecasinodeals.com and get a comp worth $60.

Re: Announcement of the site hosting the 1st & Last events

Damn it...is that the site that requires utility bill and drivers license to be send? I'm afraid that could have a serious negative effect on the amount of players. I for one was thinking in playing most of the events, but it's just a hassle to have to sent those documents, while I only want to deposit 1k or so to play in the event.

Im also totally amazed that this site is hosting the final event. IMO only one site should have been doing that: Pokerstars.

I play RV and never had to send any ID or anything...? Am I missing something, or is it to do with the fact that I'm in the UK perhaps?

Re: Announcement of the site hosting the 1st & Last events

When I tried to set up an account I got an email stating:

"Please be advised that before you will be able to register a poker account, we will need you to supply us with the requested verification documents.

- A copy of your drivers license and
- A utility bill that reflects your residential address and contact numbers."

I don't know for sure if it applies to any customer, but I don't think I've been picked out or something.

Anyway, if I have to send that info just to play these tournaments I probably won't play, whereas otherwise I'm almost certain to play.

Re: Announcement of the site hosting the 1st & Last events

i verified with another prima room. i don't know if that is enough to satisfy rvp. i don't really have a problem sending rvp documents because there is all those names endorsing so it is as safe as any room i guess. it seems like this is just for the first event and the last one and if i don't play the first event but win one in another room then they can have my water bill if that's what i need to cash in my seat in the finals.

I just sign up and was not requested any documents.

They didn't want any documents from me but that doesn't mean the interface blows.

I doubt I'll be dropping the 1k or any $ there to get a satellite into a tourney with this interface. Uninstall and catch a later event.

I signed up and all was ok until I tried to deposit money.

I had registered with my home address (in Israel) but tried to use my US credit card. Seems they didn't like that.

Now they asked me for ID.

They want a photo-id (no problem), utility id (also no problem) and ..... a copy of my CC (NO WAY!!!!).

Have told them that - will wait and see what happens.

I think that 2+2 may have to help out some of their regulars in the process of registration.

Anyone know when RVP will start promoting the event and begin to run satellites, etc.??

I am sure they will. They offer satelites and super satelites for their $50-$100 tournies.

Re: Announcement of the site hosting the 1st & Last events

Not to be a downer but you couldn't have possibly made a worse choice in site. The Royal Vegas site is disgusting. Their support is close to the worst if not the worst in online poker and their software is as bad as it gets. Also, they're notorious for having their server crash over and over again in large tournaments. Very very poor choice IMO, and I hope for the sake of the ISOP that RV doesn't bring it down like its brought down other good tourney ideas in the past.

Re: Announcement of the site hosting the 1st & Last events

I have to agree with "MEbenhoe " :
Royal Vegas was a poor choice.

But a bunch of other sites will be participating
in ISOP. Hopefully, that will include pokerstars
and some of the other better sites.

Re: Announcement of the site hosting the 1st & Last events

I don't think there software is that bad. Well, I have one major problem with it and that is that the shot clock for acting is the same in all ring games. So, lets say I am faced with a $1k+ decision in a short handed PLO game, I still only get 20 seconds to anaylze the situation and act before my hand is auto folded. That really sucks, and has cost me big time on more than one occasion. Other than that, I think there software is as good or better than Party's.

As to support, never had a problem with them, but I've never really had a problem I needed to take up with them. Their cash outs can be kind of slow, but I am never in that big of a hurry so it has not really bothered me.

we are sorry to hear your opinion on this. however, we could not be more happy with our choice. RVP has it all. incredible marketing, amazing management and fantastic celebrity endorsers. all of this coupled with the power of the prima network means that the ISOP is gonna rock.

prima has arrived and many of your comments are no longer applicable (if they ever were). however, as it has been pointed out, there will be many other tournaments for you to play in. i suspect that by the time the first event is played, RVP will have won you over MEbenhoe.

let's see if i am right.

Re: Announcement of the site hosting the 1st & Last events

Now this is just an if, but lets say we get to the first ISOP event. We're a few rounds in and suddenly RV has a big server crash like they've been known to have during large tournaments like this in the past. What will the response of the ISOP and RV be then? This would be a very bad way to start out the series. I may have been a bit harsh with my original comments due to personal problems I've had with multiple prima sites in the past, but this is my biggest worry, and its one substantiated by their past history.

GrannyMae 02-04-2005 07:45 PM

Re: Announcement of the site hosting the 1st & Last events

honest to god, i have not heard of these server crashes and that's why i said i bet we can win you over. i don't think this is an issue anymore and if it was one, it has been solved. i'm told that the software is vastly superior to the product that prima launched with a long time ago and that not only are all the server issues fixed, but they are lightning fast. i can attest to the spped. i was playing 2 games recently (which is one too many for me, but i can handle it), and the software was so fast that i could not even keep up with that single extra table. yes, i'm a spazz and i am old.

you DO bring up a great point on crashes though. we all know that every site out there is prone to an unexpected crash and the way that will be handled will be clearly spelled out in the rules. what i can PROMISE is that regardless of the site, the tourney would be halted and that nobody is going to sit there and steal blinds. obviously the rules for a crash are more extensive than this but they will be posted with every site's landing page.

again, i can't tell you how confident we are in the site and network and i promise that server crashes are not SOP for royal vegas. give it a shot (pleeeeeeze), i want to use you as a "before and after", 1,000+ post believer after the first event is done. prima has gotten as big as they are based on this software that has developed to a superior product through continual upgrades and improvements..

there will be no problems with the server, i promise

Will we be able to play from ANY Prima site or will we have to play from RV? I do have an account there but prefer TGC.

Re: Granny or somebody???

to play in the first event and the championship event you need to have a RVP account. i'm certain they will do a great bonus offer to coincide. tgc is not a sponsor this first year. perhaps season 2.

i *know* i can count on you to be at that first final table david. you one of the old timers here and i expect the old timers will do great in these events. i expect anyone with decent game to do great in these. there should be plenty of dead money.
(especially in any event mason might play)

As I understood it, the Prima sites strictly enforce the rule of only having accounts only on one skin. (I think it was for Prima sites that I saw a few posts about accounts being frozen for having accounts on multiple skins.) Is my memory just flaky here? If not, how will this issue be resolved?

I sent them an email asking if you could have an account at multiple Prima skins, and if you could claim the bonus at multiple skins. Here's the response:

Hi there

Thank you for your email.

You are permitted to have an account with more than 1 Prima Poker operator.
However the terms and conditions of Prima Poker state that a player may
only 1 alias across the Prima Poker network. When you register your account
with us, you will need to use the same alias that you are currently using
at your poker room.

Please be advised that you will be eligible for the sign up offer at Royal
Vegas Poker. The offer consists of free $10 which is credited 24 hours
after the account has been registered as well as the 40% match bonus up to
a $100 purchase. Please note that there is no deposit required for the $10
to be credited to your account. In order for the deposit to be credited to
your account, you will need to play an amount of raked hands which is equal
to double the purchase you make. For example if you make a $50 purchase,
100 raked hands will be required in order for the bonus to be credited.
Please be aware that raked hands from Multi table and Sit&Go tournaments,
as well as $0.05/$0.10 and $0.10/$0.20 limit tables do not count towards
your raked hand requirements.

We look forward to having you at the Poker tables.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further queries.

Kind Regards,
Claudio

The second key question here is the documents one. Could you please email Prima regarding this? They do not just do this regarding credit card issues, but also cashout ones as well. And when they 'ask' you for it, your account is FROZEN until you comply. I would be interested in knowing their response.

I would like to retract my previous statement. I'll just say that it will take some getting used to. I can't speak for cashout issues, but I sure hope that none arise given the large sums of projected payouts.

My experience with RV:

I think I had to send them a copy of a utility bill early on. (Maybe my license, I don't remember, it was a year ago). I know I had to send them a utility bill to change my address.

To "send", I simply scanned and emailed. You don't have to mail or fax.

I have cashed out a fair amount from there (between 10 and 20k) in multiple chunks. It is slow (sometimes up to a week), but I have always gotten my money. Also, I get a form email telling me I may not understand cash out policy every time I cash out. It seems to suggest that the method I am using to cash out is not valid (ala crediting back to a credit card more than you deposited from it (I have never used a CC either way in regards to poker sites)), but then the cash out goes through just fine. That email is like the "your cashout has been proceesed" email to me. Don't get weirded out if you get one of those, just give it another day or so and check your neteller/firepay/whatever you are using.

Why spam?

Just because I am giving others the benifit of what I have found out?

Many players have asked about rake-backs in the past and I just found out about it so I thought that maybe I would share what I have learnt with others.

I promise you I will get no money out of this and feel free to not take my advice but please, don't accuse me of sending spam.

Re: Granny or somebody???

I opened an account with them and all went well until I tried to deposit some money.
Then all hell broke lose.

Seems that their system did not like the idea that I was depositing money from my US CC when my address is in Israel.

The only thing they haven't asked me for yet is an imprint of my teeth.

However, to be fair, it is better this way than for someone to use my CC for their playing.

Structure of the opening event - $25 Rebuys?

Hi,

I signed up to RVP just for the ISOP. I noticed already on their Multi-table tab they have the event up but it says....

ISOP April Final $1000+$100

In the text though it has

"Play your way into the ISOP Grand Championship in March 2006. 1 in 5 from this final win seats. $25+$2.50 rebuy/add-on in the first hour"

My questions,

1. What is this 1 in 5 thing they talk about

2. Are we going to have a $1000 event with $25 rebuys?

I'll look tonight, but my guess is that these are satelites. RV has a ton of satelites for it's "big" tournies. ("Big" here means things as low as $75 and maybe even $50 tournies.) They are probably just starting a promo blitz and kicking of the satelites.

Hi folks. To be clear who made this deletion, though my partner agrees with me 100%, I am identifying myself as granny in making this reply.

As you have seen, the post in question has been removed. Let me explain why:

1. While we all know that rakekeback sites are a reality, the mere existence of such sites does not mean that the Poker sites condone them. As a matter of fact, most sites are very clear that rakeback of any form is against the rules.

2. This forum is "paid for" by the sponsors. Links to sites that facilitate rakeback will not be allowed in the ISOP forum. These discussions happen elsewhere on 2+2 and if you want to discuss rakeback, you need to discuss it in the appropriate forum.

3. One of the purposes of this forum will be to allow our community members to sign up directly to the site once the landing pages are in place. This is part of the contract. We would be violating many clauses by allowing links in this forum that direct people off-site to procure a rakeback deal. We would also be violating an unstated good faith agreement we have with the sponsors by allowing this.

4. We will allow people to link to the classified section at twoplustwo as a compromise, but no links that lead off site will be allowed.

I had hoped that we never had to use the moderator feature here, but this is a serious issue. Allowing this would violate the contracts that we have worked so hard to bring to the table. This forum is a commercial forum. That makes it unique in this community. As a matter of fact, once we are completely live, the banners you see in this forum will differ from the banners you see in the rest of the community. The banners here will be reserved for promoting the ISOP sponsors directly. There will be no affiliate banners here and all banners will link directly to the Sponsor's site.

Twoplustwo.com is not running these events; they are simply "selling" advertising space to the ISOP team, who in turn is organizing a tournament series on behalf of this group of poker sites. The moderation in this forum needs to reflect this arrangement.

Now, have fun going to bash me and this post deletion in another forum.

Seriously, I'm guessing that there are no hard feelings on this post deletion now that the business aspect behind the decision has been clarified.

Thanks for your cooperation.

heya,

nice to see that RVP already has the details coming out. in a couple of days they will be launching a landing page in this forum and all of these questions will be answered.

one of the great things about RVP is that they have a phenomenal marketing team and they are taking the base requirements for ISOP events and bringing them to the next level. that's a fancy way of me saying that i am not 100% certain either. they have 4 people working on ISOP and we will all see the results here within a few days.

Re: Structure of the opening event - $25 Rebuys?

I saw the april final thing, but didn't open it to see if it had rebuys (I seriously doubt it does. If they do and rebuys are $25, look for me to be all in on A LOT of hands in the rebuy period. )

I think the reason they are calling it "April Final" is that they have satelites set up to get into already. I am sure they will have MTT's feeding it, but they also already have a tiered S&G system to feed it.
