$30 NL stars blind battle.

I am chipleader by a good 5k and villain is in the top 10 in chips. We just made the money and 1 before the money I was involved in a blind battle against villain where I called preflop with suited cards and pushed in to get villain out when I had a flush draw, so I'm guessing he doesn't like me very much. 50 or so players left when 600 or so started, what are my options and what is the correct plan?

...well you're not calling or folding...

Shoot. To. Thrill.

The only way I could allow you to just call is if you swore to me you would not fold this hand no matter what flop comes.

I push and see what happens

Re: $30 NL stars blind battle.

I think if you push he can put you on lesser hands and his calling range will be expanded. If you call that would around suspicion plus you might miss.

I was pretty sure the answer was to push, but someone told me that line was bad and I wanted to make sure. I can never see folding AK here, but some people don't like to race for this many chips so I wasn't sure.

And here was me thinking that the idea was to get lots of chips with my premium hands

what are my options

[/ QUOTE ]

Fold - I can't see that as an option at all

Cold Call - Viewed as weak tight move by a weak tight player. But, your image is aggressive, it may send some suspicious signals to a thinking player.

Reraise - probably the play the villain expects to see from you the aggro. What will his move be - define his big pair and reraise/push? Or will he call and pull a stop n go?

Push - Puts him on the defensive. He has a big pair it spells trouble. He has a smaller pair, still could be trouble. He's tilting, he may call with his KQs.

and what is the correct plan

[/ QUOTE ]

Man I don't know.....
I guess if I'm only after the win, a push it is.

If I'm wanting to slide up the pay scale and wait for a more opportune time to mix it up, or if I think I can outplay him, I may just call and see if he sweats a little.

Very thought provoking question gobbo.

I can't see a call here either, and a fold isn't even an option. I'm pushing and expecting him to fold.

I push and expect him to call with 33-66. This always, ALWAYS happens against a low pair. Swear it.

His range is pretty big here. Push!

Re: $30 NL stars blind battle.

easy push - I like playing AK all in anyways - it IS a great hand, in theory, but only if it sees all 5 cards -

the hands you could be called with here - too varied to mention - I think you'll be dominating to 3 outs, but that's just me...

Re: $30 NL stars blind battle.

yea I push here.. I mean you're definitely going to re-raise him, and any significant re-raise puts in over half your stack so might as well just push it, lots of money in the pot already with his large raise and the blinds/antes.

Re: $30 NL stars blind battle.

Indicate the fact that you are raising all in with a backhanded waving of the hands, then take a sip of water while leaning back.

I apologize, English was never my strong suit. Let me try to better explain myself.

If I try to steal from the button, let's say for the sake of argument, and the BB goes all in on an apparent re-steal, do you necessarily put him on only a premium hand? I know I don't. I would put him on a better hand if I see him flat call (or min-raise/do something fancy) rather than resteal all-in. Therefore, I think it may be +cEV to push here rather than so a fancy non-all-in re-raise or flat call. Did I explain myself clearer or should I try again?

Re: $30 NL stars blind battle.

Alright, I've heard enough from people telling me it's an easy push. I figured it was too, and I instapushed from the bb and even faster than that, he called me with 55 and won the race.

The main reason I posted this is wanting to see if anyone does not want to race for this many chips, either against a small pair or against something else. I think his over-raise limits my options.

Re: $30 NL stars blind battle.

yep. easy push. you're way ahead of his current range, and you're about a coinflip with his calling range.. so it's slightly profitabe even if you are called everytime, and since you do have good FE being one of th eonly stacks that can [censored] him up.

Yeah, AK is a drawing hand. Don't want to take risks with a hand like that.

and we're not even getting into that part of TPFAP which suggested playing AK all in - if for no other reason then to see all 5 cards -

Given a choice, I'd rather see a fold to my reraise, but if I see AK I'll take my chances on either side of the coinflip - but the +EV of this move is the amount of times he'll fold and call with inferior hands - not the time you win coin flips.

Well obviously I'm not one of those people. I started drooling when I saw that he raised here, then puked when he called with 55.

But there are situations where getting all your chips into the middle with less than 80/20 can make you feel sick. This isn't one of them I suppose.
