virtual decks

Don't know if anyone knows the answer to this question and I am just curious. When playing a poker hand online is the deck set? That is, are the cards in an order once the hands start and regardless of when an action is chosen the next card will be the 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (for example) no matter what?

If I shuffle a deck of cards the cards will come out in the same order a second from now and a year from now provided no one touches them. Does the same hold true online? Or are the cards in some sort of contuously random shuffle and the next card is more the product of a click of the mouse than something already preset?

thanks,

yabastid

i'm pretty sure that different sites do different things. i'm also pretty sure that most sites post something about their shuffle on their webpages, so you can go find your information there.

'Stars claims to shuffle, then deal from the shuffled deck; I know that's how most claim they do it.

Not that it makes any difference at all.

Just wondering, but, why would this matter? (not a criticism)

i think for security issues the next card is generated as needed. from what ive read most sites do not generate the entire community board at the start of a hand

Reading the 'shuffle' section on PokerStar's site, it strongly implies that they create a virtual deck first, then deal.

Guys- thanks for the replies.

Runout Mick- It doesn't really matter it was just more curiosity than anything else. However, being slightly OCD, if I found out that there is a continuous shuffle being generated I might buy an atomic clock and only click on odd seconds preflop with AK and click on even seconds with medium pp's to hit my set. Just Kidding . . . Maybe.
