Looking for a good restaurant in Boston

Saturday night is my 6th year anniversary. I'm looking for a great restaurant in Boston (or nearby..I live about 30 min north of the city). My wife and I are both steak lovers but also like pasta dishes...no seafood. We don't want to go anywhere that requires a suit but rather someplace where I feel I need to dress well (dress slacks and nice collared shirt). The 3 big things I'm looking for are: a great steak so you can cut it with a fork, atmosphere and service. We've been to Top of the Hub a couple times and was great. Now we're looking for something along those lines.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!
HEK

how do you feel about italian? does it have to be steak? the north end has a ton of good restaurants and that whole area would probably be considered romantic by most women. you could follow up the dinner with a walk down hanover st. over to the waterfront or faneuil hall

Good suggestions so far. Mortons is a safe bet, too. Right on Boylston st.

HEK - Boston does not have any local outstanding steakhouses like New York, most are the chains. Capital Grille is the best of the chains. The Metropolitan Club in Newton is independent and I have heard it is outstanding but I have not been there.

Good Eating!!

The Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill (Newton).

Great atmosphere, no tie required, awesome steak, sides, apps, everything.

Rialto at the Charles in Harvard Square. The emphasis is not steak, but you will be able to find it on the menu with no problem, you will feel you need to be dressed well, and you will have a memorable anniversary dinner.
