Party $109 MTT: 99 hand with small M facing a raise

Blinds are 100/200 with a little bit of time left. About 150 left and the bubble is 60. I have T1300. I'm dealt the black 9s on the CO. EP/MP who has ~T3000 raises to 650. I pretty much have no read with him except for when he raised to 175 when the blinds were 25/50, fired a cbet of 350 into a 550 pot, and then folded to a checkraised all in of 400 more. It's folded to me, do I...

A) Push knowing my M is getting small and that I'll need to double up soon, knowing I could have him dominated with a lower pocket pair or hopefully at worst a coin flip.

B) Wait for a better hand because I could be dominated vs a higher pocket pair or be a coinflip for my tournament life. Also the blinds next to me are tight and I can probably steal a lot when it come back around where I'll have a lot of FE as well.

can i say there is one term that makes me laugh more often than "pot odds", "stop and go", and even "semibluffing"

and that is "tournament life"

hahahahaha

i mean, COME ON, you have 1300, blinds are 100/200, you are far far far far away from the money, and a bigger stack raised 3xBB before you, and you hold 99

WHAT IS THE QUESTION

Yeah, I thought so... it seems I get busted out of tourneys frequently by pushing with the pair and then racing or being dominated, but I guess every situation has its differences and that means I probably need to work on building chips earlier.

Any difference is the stack was T2000? At what point can you fold and wait for a better spot or just call with the read of his cbet?

yeah good call, i shouldnt have been afraid to push 99 for my entire tournament life.

calling 600 off pf w/ a stack of t2000 is terrible, id push in that situation too

this is a very good spot for me, im not waiting for AA-JJ, AKs to get chips

since everyone seems to think its an autopush here, what if there was a raise and a call in front of him.. still push? raise reraise? how easy do you guys fold the nines here, or is it the push&prayplay nearly always correct

An extra call in front would make me more inclined to push. But of course I'd push anyway.

Re: Party $109 MTT: 99 hand with small M facing a raise

Despite everyone saying this is an auto push I think it's a pretty close decision that slightly leans toward pushing. EP/MP just put in 1/5 his stack, so what would he do this with? Obviously AK-A10 and two paint which are coinflips. Woud he raise here with A9 and A8, maybe, lower than that unlikely. Hands like K8 possible but unlikely. So we have the probable coinflip hands, a few not so likely 70% hands, and then the hands where it's two pocket pairs. There's 5 overpairs, but are there 5 underpairs? I'd say it's more likely he has a higher pair than a lower one. Also he said he thought he had a good stealing position which is another argument for folding. All this is obviously balanced out by the fact he only has 1300 which is a strong argument for shoving in, but if he lets the blinds pass and executes 1 blinds steal he's back to 1300. Is this playing too tight?

I'm praying for a hand as good as 99 when I'm this shortstacked. Push and be happy!
