VideoPoker

Can VP still be a +EV game, or have most Casinos changed their machines and lowered payouts?

There is a casino 10mins away from my house and I believe they have some VP machines.
Is there a way to look at the game determine if it can be beaten with perfect strat?

There are very few beatable machines anymore. Most of the ones that are beatable only return 100.1% or 100.2% with perfect play and have complicated strategies so that few people will even get close to the theoretical perfect return. You definitely won't find any 100.8% Deuces Wild dollar machines anymore. In fact, many casinos are reducing returns to around the 98% level in order to bring their video poker profits in line to what they earn from slot and table game players.

Some casino slot clubs that give you cash back depending on the amount of your action. If you have access to a good cash back program, then even many standard video poker machines can be +EV.

If it's a game with complex or unusual rules, then there's no automatic way to tell if it's beatable or not.

You might want to write down the full pay payouts of +EV games on an index card, and then in the casino you can compare the full pay returns to what they do offer.

There are software programs that will figure out the theoretical return of a game and the perfect strategy for it.

It's always better than slots, and with comps you certaintly can get your money's worth out of Video Poker.

if you expertly play 800-1000 hands per hour at 25c FPDW or $1 DB 10/7, you might be able to theoretically grind about $10/hr plus comps and cashback. I can make more than that just from poker bonus whoring online at 50c/$1 LHE, plus make more money from actual play.

outside of downtown and local LV markets, the VP paytables are -EV and basically only good for trying to earn comped rooms, food and or/VIP status at the casino with relatively low bankroll risk compared to other rated games.

You need to check the paytable, which is how many coins are paid out for each type of winning hand. If you write it down and post it here, someone can tell you exactly what the house advantage is.

I have recently been looking at this and wondering if the DWFP payouts/strategy that yield 100.77% on wizardofodds' site exist, and where. Can any of the regulars here help with whether such payouts exist in any online casinos and at what $ level? And when you say $5, does that imply that a bet has to be $25 per hand (i.e. 5x bet)?

Thanks.
