A2s in SB in supersatellite

Final table of supersatellite. 4 players remaining. 2 get $200 seats. 3rd gets $80, 4th $48. Blinds 2K/4K/250. I have 48K in SB before posting, BB 40K, others 30K and 28K.

Passed to me in SB with A2s. What do I do?

I'd open raise to 12K.

Am I missing something here?

That's what I did, but I wonder if I should have folded or completed.

Since there are 4 players left for 2 seats and I have a slight lead, I wonder if I should play more cautiously in marginal situations.

yea, i dont see a reason to open push. make the BB make a decision for his stack.

I like making it 10-12k.

You chip stack is too large, and you only need to get 2nd, dude is 2nd in chips, dont get crazy yet.

blake

I am a pretty strong adherent of the 10xBB rule, so I wouldn't make a small raise. You can still lose a lot of chip with the smaller raise. I think completing or folding may be better, even though that is not how you usually play this hand.

I went ahead and pushed, got called by 55, lost, and was down to 8K chips, and finish 4th.

I play satellite strategy pretty strongly, playing much tighter big stacked than short stacked. I didn't have that big a lead, so I went ahead and pushed. But maybe it would have been better to wait and let someone else get busted out. If I get short stacked, I can always push at a big stacks blinds with any 2. Late in satellites, I play situations as much as cards.

Oh well, I feel better most people say raise or push. In most cases, the push will work fine. You need to take some risks, and I don't mean to seem result-oriented.

I think people react A2s in SB, automatically open raise, but it is not so automatic in a supersatellite.

You have to push. Villain's calling range should be very very tight here and with an Ace in your hand it makes it pretty unlikley that he has a hand that will call. Your lead over the other stacks is pretty insignificant. They'll quickly push their way ahead of you if you don't continue to push edges and pick up the blinds regularly.
