1/2 nl in vegas
 

How does it compare to the play on line? Is like 0.25/0.50 or 0.5/1.0 or higher? A generic estimate on a standard casino. Are the games wild, agressive, passive or what is the most common style? How may see flop, what is standard raise preflop and so on. Assumming you are good at both no limit and limit would you earn more playing 1/2 nl or 10/20 limit? Pretty stupid questions as usuall, but since Vegas is like half around the globe from here I have no experience [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Almost every casino spreads the game nowadays, so it depends on where you are at. From my experience, the games were fairly loose, and definitely beatable. The standard preflop raise at the $1/2 blinds tables was usually $10-$15. Alot of players (including myself) would call preflop raises in that range with marginal hands; small pocket pairs, or suited connectors; and try to hit a big flop and take a nice pot.

Just play in the NL games at the Alladin. $100 buy in and the games are soft and easy.

1/2 NL plays like the old party 10 man 25 NL or 6max 25NL. Full of idiots who won't fold an ace or don't understand domination with AJ or AQ. I have raised for 10 under the gun in these donkey games and have gotten 6 cold callers........ Soft and easy yes. $50-$200 is the buy in now. You can tell within 5 minutes if everyone is waiting for JJ+ to play or playing any 2 cards and can adjust accordingly. That's my best advice for the Aladdin 1/2NL.

100% percent true based on my mid-July experience. Paid for my weeklong trip and then some on those tables.

I just went to Vegas last week for my first time ever, and from my limited experience playing nl live (was my first time) I can say that it was donkastic. It was 1-2 nl at the Flamingo, $40-$200 buy-in.

Let me give you one example that does a good job of explaining the play at the flamingo 1-2nl.

Folded to the sb who completes and the bb checks. Flop comes K K 8. SB quickly bets $50 into a $4 pot, bb folds and sb shows his rockets. He then tips the dealer $5, and proudly rakes in his mounstrous -$1 pot.

That was the usual for the night.

Get used to players betting weird amounts in relation to the pot. In the game I was playing, it wasn't unusual for someone to bet 2-4x the pot or more. One player would push all in for $800+ on a complete bluff (he'd show afterwards) for $10 pots. He did this a lot, and rarely had a hand. Too bad he lost all $800 by the time he left in the morning, although none of it was to me. I was playing weak tight against the maniac opponents at the table just waiting for a hand to double up on, never got on playing for 6 hours that night.

It was fun though, and I broke even playing for my two 6 hour sessions on the 1-2 nl counting dealer and drink tips. I would've been down a bit at the nl table except for the fact that after about 30 long islands and 24 hours without sleep, my live straddles seemed to be very +ev.
