Folded to you in the SB, what do you do?

It's folded to you in the SB, levels 3 or 4, 5-7 handed, and both you and BB have more than 10xBB. Do you regularly take a shot at the pot here? Raise pf with any two? Complete and fire into any flop? Just fold unless you have a good hand, 1.5 BBs isn't worth it?

Here's an example of what I mean:

Level 4 (blinds at 50/100) of a Party 22.

UTG - t1200
MP - t1300
CO - 1000
Button - 800
SB (Hero) - 1900
BB - 1800

Folded to Hero in the SB with J4o. What's your move?

1.5 BBs, level 4 and on, is almost always worth it.

First off, its worth mentioning that J4o, in this situation, is no different from KTo, or any of those other middlnig hands, in that if I get reraised I have to dump it.

So really the decision becomes more about how the table has been playing. Have you been really active in the last few hands? Have you folded your last 12 hands? Is the BB calling/raising pretty liberally? Is he failing to defend his BB at all?

Anyway, yeah. These become very situational, and its pretty much impossible to come up with a hard and fast rule. Just use your judgment, and try to walk that line between raising every hand and making the table "out to get you," and being a big weak tightie.

Re: Folded to you in the SB, what do you do?

I often make it 3BB in this spot, but sometimes I complete and lead the flop with a pot-sized bet. I find that BB often folds 2nd pair to that bet, but won't fold garbage to a minbet.

I think this has been working for me at the $11s. At a higher level, I suspect your pfr would get reraised more often and your flop bet would get raised more often.

This has a lot more to do with how the BB has been playing than anything else. (for me, anyway).

I've been shown 2nd pair on more than one occasion. I suppose I should've said "sometimes folds" and not "often folds."

"(for me, anyway)."

I imagine it's that way for most players here. If I have good FE, 3x raise. If he's loose&passive, I probally complete. If I feel he will defend aggressively I fold.
