down over 70k hands

I've been full timing 1/2 .5/1 NL on 8 tables for a little over 2 1/2 months....started playing poker in april and i've averaged something like 3-3.5k a month since i started in .25/.5 so I know that I'm not a losing player and I've been consistently beating the limits that I play now...

But anyway this month i've hit a sick maybe 70 thousand hand slide, i'm not down that much at all, around -700 excluding rake

My question is though...i've gotta know, is this normal..I've never heard of a winning player still being in the red after this many hands...Is this time to panic and start going back and analyzing my whole game that's worked great for the last 5 months? Or do I continue to ride it out?

You could try reducing the number of tables you are doing. Decreasing the tables generally increases winrate.

I'd be worried.

A downsing over that many hands at those limits is not varience.

Theres something wrong with your game.

How do you play 70k hands in a month?

Anyway, if you're in the red after 70k hands you have leaks in your game. Sorry.

that's alot... you have to include the rake...bad bad play over that many hands...the biggest downswing i've seen a winning player take is about 18k hands. It's very common for players to go through 10k at even/slightly below, but that includes the rake.

You should be analyzing your game regardless of how you're running.

Re: down over 70k hands

A year ago I made this post. I was down $1,400 over 50k hands at NL$100 after being a big winner.

I still don't know what the heck happened back there. I think it was the combination of hideous luck which then tilted me a few times. Regardless, I am now up 11k over 32,000 hands at NL$200 so I think it is safe to say I am not a loser.

Bad streaks happen. Some are horrible. If you analyze your play and can't find anything wrong then suck it up and keep playing. For weeks I tried to figure out what was wrong and although, thinking back, I can think of a few minor leaks, I cannot for the life of me figure out what would be responsible for making me a loser over 50k hands. So...I kept at it and everything has worked out.

Good luck to you.

You have 8 total posts. You need to post more. This will certainly help...

Yeah, 17k hands and losing is not a good sign. I'd cut way back the number of tables you are playing. At 8 tables, you can't do anything but play simple ABC NL, which is bad enough. But It sounds like your ABC game has some problems as well.
