An experiment

Hello all,
this is my first post.
I have been a long time reader.

I have in mind an interesting experiment.
My wife does not play at ALL.
But she would be willing<cuz she is currently home all day and has nothing to do> to get on line and play low stakes no limit IF I give he a clear cut set of hands to play.
So I was thinking abut Sklansky's theory of playing no limit Multi table tourney by just playing preflop.

So what would you all suggest I give her for a starting hands "chart" either to go all in or call all in with .

I was thinking of having her buy in for 5$ on the 25$ no limit table at party and if she loses buy in for 5 again ...when she wins leave and find a new game .

I base this thinking on Masons's theory that the best buy in is the lest you can buy for as you will get max action for min risk . Of course this would not work in a brick and mortar setting but on line you can table hop all you want.

I welcome all input and will keep you all posted of the results.

Next best thing to running a bot I guess:)

Hello,

I think if you want her to play poker you can look at Adanthar's robotic guide to beating the $10+1 SNGs.

This sounds like a really bad idea all the way around if you are expecting her to win money. Very few "I am gonna teach my wife to play" attempts are sucessful IMO.

If she really really wants to learn, has a huge desire to play, and has all the mental atributes needed to have a chance at becoming a winning player then teach her the right way to play in your spare time. Dont just stick her with a hand chart and tell her to buy in for 5 bucks. That being said, good luck, I will be interested in results.

Aleomagus?

Wasn't it Aleomagnus? I think that's the 2+2ers name who came up with the guide.

I think that this is the whole key. It is tough enough to stick to your game all the time, but when things go either too right, or too wrong for a little while, if you don't have the motivation and talent to stick it through, I think it is hard not to change your game into something that doesn't work.
