The liberals use the radicalized few to falsely \"represent\" reality

So one liberal activist is representative of military families?

They pushed the New Jersey liberal WTC wives to shill for Kerry last year, now they want to misrepresent military families.

Have they no shame! This is just evil and manipulative.

The mother in the article is apparently clueless about what her son was fighting for (democracy and freedom) and fighting against (terrorism and totalitarianism).

Actually he was fighting for his military.
If he didn't he would have gone in the brig.

Each soldier most liekly believes they are fighting for something...and in each case it may be different. So to generalize it for what you believe we are fighting for is just as stupid as what you say the mother is doing.

Is it possible this woman is simply terribly upset and truly doesn't agree with Bush's rationale for sending her son to his death?

Is it possible she is not "shilling" for someone else's "evil" political purposes?

Who is they? The article didn't mention any liberal groups or anyone backing her. She in fact said that the representatives of the president that met her were "nice men."

The clear message you see (fighting for freedom and democracy and fighting against tyranny and terrorism) has been compromised by the duplicity of the administration. This is not something that is a new story in American (or any other nation's) politics.

Re: The liberals use the radicalized few to falsely \"represent\" reality

We can generalize about what soldiers are fighting for because they have been polled and asked about this. Hint: they are not radical anti-war activists.

Sure there are people among them that hold all variety of beliefs, but if we selectively quote those on a particular side of the debate, we are not reporting the general attitudes of soldiers accurately. That was the point of my post, and it continues to be correct.

where does it state that she is representing a whole group?

You talk about how the liberals use others for thier causes?

What about the GOPs nonstop talk about 9/11 at thier last convention? aren't they just being manipulative of those people who died in the tower?

Didn't they also have WTC wives at the convention as well? Is that not shilling?

Sheehan said hers was one of a group of about 15 families who each met separately with the president one day last June.

"He wouldn't look at the pictures of Casey. He didn't even know Casey's name," she told CNN Sunday. "Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject."

In a Newsweek poll released Sunday, 64 percent of those asked said they do not believe the war in Iraq has made Americans safer, and 61 percent said they disapprove of the way the president is handling the war.

I think that we can all agree that both sides do whatever they can to gain or retain power. Unfortunately, this is what politics has come to in our country, and I don't see anything changing in the immediate future.

Oedipus Rex

If you recall, the play opens with Oedipus appearing on the steps of his palace to hear for himself the concerns of the populace. And, of course, Oedipus promises to rid his land of the evil that is causing the troubles. He keeps his promise (and Bush can't even get rid of Rove).

NYC and Washington DC, the two places most directly affected by September 11 and mostly likely to be targeted by terrorists again, overwhelmingly voted for Kerry. Where is the misrepresentation?
