how to deal with the maniac?

I came across this guy playing No-Limit Hold'em ring game,
He's style was totally devastating to the other players, he simply raised before the flop EVERY SINGLE TIME! no matter what he was dealt, and then he bet potsize on the flop, ofcourse everyone KNEW! that he couldn't have all those great startinghands he reprecented and hit the flop every time, but still he got away with it most of the time, the other guys simply couldn't call he'm if they didnt hit the flop real good, including me for that matter, he won alot of money at that table and it almost looked like he was just playing us around, like he was world class or something, we all know how hard it is to hit the flop, he tok advantage of that and making us fold even good hands, and good draws cus he totally destroyed our odds with he's potsize bets, and if someone reraised he'm or bet against he'm, he would just fold or coming over the top of them, this style he used resulted in that the table was becoming very very tight, I said to my self I couldnt play many starting hands, I was telling my self I was only going to play AA KK QQ AK against this guy and then let he'm bet right in to me all the way so I could trap he'm, unfortually those hands never came, and I was just sitting there and folding and folding hands even as good as KQs AJs ATs KJs QJs, sometimes sombody played back at he'm and then he just came over the top of them, a few guys went all-in on he'm and he called and won 2-3 times, he just seemed unbeatable to me,I have tought on this alot and I now se how wrong I was only playing the top 4 startinghands, I should have coming in with all the good hands, I usually play, cus they would still have been better that he's hands, it would have become very expensive to me cus of he raised big preflop every time tough but still, the winning would have been higher than usual in this limit thanks to he's big raises so it would have been worth it I think? Im not sure what to do on the flop tough when he bet pot-sized, should I just go ahead and call? I know he is bound to have nothing, but I can never be sure of that, there is no way I could read a guy like that, he could have anything from AA to 72 unsuited, he would still raise preflop and then bet potsize on the flop, and if I am about to call I would go against the odds cus I would not have the odds for a call, that sounds no good to me, so how can I beat this guy?

Stacks?
if stacks are not terribly deep, and hes constantly raising pf.
Reraise him huge with any PP, any A, any 2 over T, and sc's
he comes over the top...move in

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD USE NEW PARAGRAPHS

Oh, and I reraise with a wide range of holdings looking to get it in on the flop if stacks aren't deep. Villain is just taking advantage of the fact that nobody at the table wants to deal with the variance of pushing mediocre hands against essentially random ones.

That last time I encountered this was against the infamous "Patrick" who plays at the Bicycle casino.

He is known for his crazy play and uber-aggressive style in the $300 and $500 fixed buy-in no limit games in L.A.

Basically you just have to make a stand. I check-raised him all in pre-flop with KJ suited. Was ahead the whole way and doubled up.

I don't know if I did the right thing... but if I wasn't willing to find a new table... I wasn't going to allow him to take away my game.

What?

My point was that you just have to make a stand... I agree with you that you have to come over the top with about 1/2 your preflop resonable holdings.

Oh.. I thought you meant "thread poster (writer)"

yeah... I mean either limp reraise... or re-reaise out of the blind... whatever it takes.

Just get all the money in with an above-average hand and hope for the best and/or fold equity.
