Looks ok. I mix in checking behind on the turn in these type of situations.

Afterwards, I thought that might be a better line because when I bet the flop and looked at his stats I said to myself : if he calls I'm in trouble.

Yeah I mean he could have 89 or AT, but I think all in all you are definitely behind against his range, and thus I'm unlikely to put money in. Not to mention it lets you snap off a bluff on the river, or possibly let him think he is snapping off a bluff himself with a 66 type hand.
