A few questions for Raymer, other pros, or anyone else in the know...
 

-What is the 'rake' at the WSOP? In other words, what part of the $10,000 does not go toward the prize pool?

-And do you think that the exposure you might get on ESPN to promote yourself and therefore endorse products is worth more than the rake you pay?

-How much money do you think the average WSOP winner can make simply due to his newfound celebrity by endorsing products and doing advertising? Obviously, the WSOP Tourney of Champions was a nice bonus for Greg this year- I'm not sure if they'll have this every year, so feel free to include that in your answer, but at least tell us that you are including it. And, Greg, I understand if this question is too personal, but how much money do you expect to get from your book?

-By being loud and getting yourself known ala Mattias Anderson, Dutch Boyd, etc....Do you think you are getting a lot of extra money in possible endorsements or stuff like that?

Don't quote me on this, but I think the WSOP rake is $300 in the ME. Not sure.

What product can Mattias anderson front? how about Valium or decafe coffee.

And Dutch Boyd? how about online fraud insurance

The winner can parlay exposure into book deals, appearance fees, commentator spots etc.. How can this not be worth more than the rake?

Also rans, much less so, but if they are on often, and in multiple venues, I suppose they can get some of the above.

But if their ev on the tourney is greater than the buy-in including rake, I guess they shoud play regardless of parlay possibilites.

You misunderstood my question...obviously the winner gets more than the rake back in endorsements. But my question is this: For everyone, not knowing how you're going to do, is the possibility of the endorsements that you'll get from winning it and/or from doing well and becoming well known make the rake +EV for everyone?

That seems pretty steep, especially considering what they're getting in TV revenues, merchandising, etc. now.

Well, the rake was a total of something like $1.5M. I know that I personally do not expect to get $1.5M out of being the champion (e.g., from endorsements, the 2+2 book, and the like). However, it is quite possible that the extra money I make, combined with the extra money made by David Williams, Josh Arieh, and other players who picked up or increased their notoriety, will exceed $1.5M.

I don't see why this would be surprising at all. The TV revenues, merchandising, etc. most likely have zero effect on the casino's decision when deciding the rake. People will pay the $600 in rake so Harrah's won't hesitate in charging it.
